Reading New Advent to understand the events around the great schism would be like watching Birth of a Nation in order to understand the history of race relations in the South. It is so biased it is not even funny. The entry on Hesychasm is particularly ridiculous.

Even when I’ve quoted sections on Catholic doctrine on things such as Original Sin or Purgatory, I’ve been told by other Catholics that the stuff printed in New Advent should not be used as a reference point because it doesn’t represent what the church teaches.

Well I did went through the references on Michael Psellus and it is obvious that they took his words out of context. Sorry for not expounding, it's all in Greek So what Rilian said.

Nevertheless I like this line:

He did not succeed in that plan, but he did something much more momentous; he founded the schismatical Byzantine Church.

PS. I did not find anything on the Eucharist being trampled.
