I understand that shame is a huge topic within parenting. Ive come to believe many parents unwittingly impose on their children feelings of rejection, unacceptability, unlovability, and/or worthlessness.
The questions that come to mind are some of the toughest life has to offer: Why do I feel ugly? Why dont I like myself? Why cant I escape the pain of rejection? Why do I feel inadequate? Why doesnt porn satisfy? Why do I feel worthless? Why do I feel unlovable? Why do I hate myself? Why dont drugs and alcohol satisfy my real cravings? Why cant I forgive myself? Why does my soul feel dry? Why is shame killing our children, parents, and friends?
This manuscript gives an open account of journeys others and I took from prisons of shame to places of wholeness, healing, freedom, and self-worth in Christ. I own the copyright to this manuscript; please feel free to share it as you please. Perhaps it gives us a good starting point to begin sharing.
What are your thoughts? What are your stories? What does all of this have to do with our parenting? How do we help our children experience the wholeness of self-worth in the amazing love and grace of Christ?
With Love in Christ,
Logan Musil
