Nehemiah Coxe was a 17th century Baptist who wrote a polemic contra paedobaptism worth reading. I started a page on fb a while ago and it has been getting some traffic lately. Check it out if you're interested. Like it.

"The promise made to Abraham gives the seed, as well as the blessing of that seed, to him. Believers are the children of promise, later typified by Isaac, being begotten to God of his own will by the efficacy and grace of his free promise and then the blessing of that seed is promised, which being of grace, is made sure to all them (Romans 4:16). As the blessing is spiritual so also is the seed; nor can it be extended further than to that seed which is its promised subject." - Coxe (page 80)

I recently bought and read through The Distinctiveness of Baptist Covenant Theology by Pascal Denault, in which Coxe is referenced many times. It was instrumental in my coming down solidly and with confidence on the Baptist side of Reformed theology. I hope to buy the book about which you posted above very soon. Hopefully I will have time to read it perhaps next summer, Lord willing. I noticed it a while back, and thought it curious that there was a credobaptist and paedobaptist together on the cover. It turns out that, according to Denault, Owen's view of the Covenants was much closer to the Baptists' view than to the paedobaptists' view, and was thus used by the Baptists to defend their own position (which I thought to be cool!).

Yes! Baptists were Baptists due to covenant theology. This is often missed by our Arminian brothers and sisters. I have other resources, links to pdf’s, audio sermon recommendations, etc. on the subject. Check it out if you have time.
