• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Please check out Chapterer.com

A brand new website designed to simplify collaborative writing. 3 projects a year, each is genre based.

Once a premise has been voted for, everybody is free to submit a chapter for chapter one. We shortlist them, and the community votes for the one they wish to make it to the final book! (which will be published!). The same happens for every chapter so you get the idea.

It's new, it's friendly, we aren't looking for stuffy pretentious writers but fresh and friendly folks with big imaginations.

Even if it's not your thing...you can submit short stories and poetry too!

Please check it out guys and girls, we need you.

Thanks for the feedback. I did register, and while doing so, i had not ventured to use an avatar but one showed up...one i used for another site, and which i deleted my account at (facebook). I'm wondering how that avatar got there....like when i registered with your site, and signed in, if i was actually also "signing in" to facebook simultaneously?

This happened to another user who had registered on a website via another forum that gives you an automatic avatar on other forums you visit. I imagine this would be why, whatever the service is, it keeps a cookie in your browser so any other forum you go on, it adds the avatar for you. You should still be able to change it to whatever you want.

Our forum isnt linked to facebook, but whichever other service you have used would see our forum as a regular forum that can be used to set a default avatar. Hope this helps.

Ok, I think I have figured it out. Alot of forum builders now use something called 'Gravatar', which basically remembers an avatar you have set on a site with it enabled...and then uses that as a default on other 'Gravatar' enabled forums.

The forum application we use allows us to set priority over where Avatars are selected from. We had it set so that if a user hadn't uploaded an Avatar, it would set a 'Gravatar' by default if one is found. Although this is recommended by some devs it seems to confuse or annoy members. What I have done now is change it so that if a user hasn't uploaded an Avatar, it will just use our forum default rather than pull an image from Gravatar.

I'm not sure how this will affect users who are already using a Gravatar image but it should have now resolved the issue. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
