Hey, i didnt quite know where to post this but my friend and I need help. He believes that whatever helps with your relationship with God is just dandy. Hes been doing all sorts of Buddhism things, especially meditating. Now i tried to explain it to him that involving other religions might not be the best idea. But question after question keep coming up and i cant explain it to him any better. If anyone can help me out, i'd appreciate it alot. I also ask that you pray for him, hes going through some hard times and is trying to find anyway to free his mind. Thank you

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I will pray for your friend that he would come to know the truth, and that the Lord will give you exactly the right words to say to him, at just the right time.
One of my sons walked away from the Christian faith into a false religion, and we tried reasoning with him but his heart and mind were closed to us. Finally, we concluded that this was God's work, and though our hearts were broken (he was into a lot of things he shouldn't have been doing), we had to turn the situation over to God.
Things got worse before they got better, but today he's in a relationship with the Lord, married to a young Christian woman. They just dedicated their twin baby girls last Sunday.
Prayer works.
One suggestion for helpful material is to the use the Devotions link on this site, and go to Our Daily Bread. They have booklets you can read online about all kinds of biblical answers to questions & situations. Soul Journey is also a good one for younger people.
