Frequency of Tithes

I know about that 'pull'...I think legalism really suffocates the pull of the HOly spirit - it's so sad really because so much more can be given if one just stops following the 'law' and start actually leaning on christ and allow the Holy Spirit ti minister

And, I'll have to get back w/ you tomorrowm, 'cause I gotta get up early and drive for several hours. Plus, I'm about to eat, and do the laundry thing.

We're given a measure of faith and that faith can grow in our walk through hearing the word of God. Not too sure about grace but I do believe that God gives us more as we mature too. I take that as meaning that as a child we, as parents, hold their hand when we cross the road. As they mature we let go of their hand. Something like that anyway.

Mate - and we don't use 'mate' all the time either...it's a time and a place thing. And depending on how casual you are at the time. So yes females are mates too

Hmmm...^ I see!

I struggled for a long time with the verse you have in mind..."Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God". And usually, every message from the pulpit tells us that faith comes from, 'hearing and hearing and hearing', Repititiously, the Word. It just didn't make sense to me. Especially given the arrangement of the sentence. The comma (or even if there is no comma) proves to me that there is more to it than meets the eye. The first part of the sentence has 'faith' as the subject. The second part of the sentence has 'hearing' as the subject. You see, grammar is a strange thing sometimes. And just considering the way a sentence is written (especially commas), sometimes we see into the message, and get a fuller revelation. Well thats what happened when I took the time to look up "hearing" in the Greek. In some contexts, it means; UNDERSTANDING !!!!!
Now it all came together. There are people who, week after week, month after month, year after year, sit in a pew and listen. (Such as my own mother) and they are dead, because they do not understand the Word in the first place.
Let me paraphrase it for you; "Now faith comes by understanding, and uderstanding by the word of God" ! It's alot easier to have faith in something you can understand! How many scripture are there in the Bible that say, "seek knowledge", "Get understanding", "seek after wisdom", "having your understanding enlightened", etc... And there's even one that says, "My people are destoyed because of a lack of knowledge"
It's all tied together like a big chain full of 'links' Faith/understanding...the Bible, a bunch of links. The Thompson Chain Reference Bible proves it!

Yeh well that's true isn't it. Because remember what Christ said about their ears being plugged up and their eyes being blind or whatever? They are probably the people your talking about. Those who are just hearing and hearing and hearing...but their ears are plugged up so all they're hearing are words with no meaning.

I wasn't trying to twist scripture...honest!

what if, faith comes from simply like an infant hearing the voice of Abba Elohim speak to you, and believing, you no longer believe man, having heard Yhvh Himself yourself.

I have always felt that a tithe was not a requirement of the church that I attend but a conviction by the Holy Spirit in me.

Now.. since the other side of topic has been discussed,

I'll contribute a little bit what Theology school would say bout this matter:

Matthew 22:21: ...And He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”



and what belongs to God?


Ezekiel 3:

8. “ Will a man rob God?
Yet you have robbed Me!
But you say, ‘ In what way have we robbed You?’
In tithes and offerings.

9. You are cursed with a curse,
For you have robbed Me,
Even this whole nation.

10. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,
That there may be food in My house,
And try Me now in this,”
Says the LORD of hosts,
“ If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
And pour out for you such blessing
That there will not be room enough to receive it.

11. “ And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes,
So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground,

What belongs to God? ..Tithes and Offering.
How can we rob God? ..Tithes and Offering.

Many people doesn't understand, that Tithing is more than just providing food to your pastor OR supporting the church/fellowship you are in (expenses) OR expanding God's kingdom in this earth.

It is a GOD's promise that He will bless you, so that you storehouse will be overflowed with blessings!!

It says, until you have not more store to contain it.

Again, look where this is the ONLY passage in the bible where you can find to actually TRY GOD.. nowhere except this one.
You can actually ASK God if you feel you haven't been blessed OR feel short in your financial (I'm covering this aspect only at the moment, surely there's many others), .. IF you have faithfully give your tithe to God.

Also, it works as a protection for you.
Verse :11 says ... He will protect your blessing from any troubles, ..even if there is ... He will quickly help you if you ask Him.
Ex: Job received multiple portion from God after the tribulation


IMO, 10% isn't much required from God, because 100% things we own are HIS anyway in the place. WE ARE JUST HIS STEWARD .. REMEMBER?

Steward only holds the items for the Master temporarily until He returns.
The time when we feel we own something because we deserve it and forgot that it is actually came from God because of grace .. we have sinned.


Lets say you make $80.000/year. 10% of it is only $8k.
I'm pretty sure you car and it's maintenance cost more than that.

Tithe is more than HOW MUCH %, it's the obedience of God's commandment. He wants to bless you and protect you.

Didn't think so. You don't get tithe, period.

There is no command in the new testament to pay tithe.

There are only free will offerings. (which means the preacher technically isn't even supposed to "ask" for an offering.)

There should be a box somewhere in the church, or something similar where people can choose to give money if and when they want to.

Passing around offering plates/buckets and upselling the pastor's literature in the church service are a form of coercion.

New Covenant giving is: freewill, sacrificial, generous, joyful, regular and motivated by love for God, fellow Christians and lost souls. Do not burden or curse God's poor who struggle to feed and shelter their family. Although there is no set percentage for Christians to give, all should give sacrificially or lower your standards of living in order to further the reach of the Gospel.

God didn't just speak to the Levites or Israel people. He's speaking to all of us .. ALL GENERATIONS.

Preachers don't ASK for tithing... it's God's commandment. IF you don't tithe .. you rob from God. Read verse 3

if you feel guilty and the conviction .. well that's the Holy Spirit speaking.


tithe is different from offering.
tithe is an obedience, commitment
offering is reflected in your lifestyle and generosity out of your heart.

yes, many churches do that.
They either divide the money boxes in front of the church where you bring the offerings in front. (church building box, missionary support box, church's interest box)

or
the church leader, deacons have decided during their meetings on how much percentage should go where and what not after the offering is collected. Decisions on where to divide the money usually done in church congregation meetings.. I'm not sure how it's done in BIG CHURCHES. but in small church like mine .. that's how it is done.

Passing the bucket is just a form of tradition, same as walking to the front to put your offering. If you have an idea how we should the offering be done in church .. well .. talk to your church leaders & they'll bring the subject in the meeting.

Selling literature in the church takes a long explanation, BUT .. as long they don't make huge gap profit, higher percentage goes to some kind charity/helping someone, needs to be done OUTSIDE main sanctuary NOT inside. And at the end, those who writes wants the readers to have deeper relationship with God, that's whats important.
