WOW!! There is quite a bit of content there for free. Thanks!!

No problem. I am pretty excited about it myself. I'm familiar with some of the professors on that site, especially the ones from Gordon-Conwell... and they are quite solid. I took a class from Gary Parrett, who teaches on worship, and he is wonderful. Tennant, who teaches a class on Islam, is very good as well, as is Stuart, who teaches OT. Often, you know, it is hard to discern the credentials of online teachers or materials, but I am familiar enough with these folks to be confident that the teaching is solid.

The theology seems to lean toward the Reformed, from what I can tell (which is good for this Presbyterian, lol), but I think it is just more generally evangelical.

I know it's not a substitute for physically attending classes, but online instruction can really help, either for people who can't attend seminary, or for people like me who have graduated and are looking for continuing education. :)

Have you actually (or your friend) taken any of these courses?

I am just starting. I only found out about it last night. My friend has taken more than I have, though.

I understand that you're doubtful. It's important to be a discerning consumer of what we find on the internet!

whoah, give me a chance to respond. ;)

If you're nervous about online content, I totally understand. I usually avoid stuff like this too.

Just thought I'd provide it for those who were interested, and many folks will have heard of these professors.

Wow! Those are some highly respected scholars there...I am definitely registering. This is completely free? That is amazing. I have only read books and commentaries by these guys...to take a class under them (even online) would be great.

Does anyone know what level of courses these are? I mean, are they being taught at a graduate or an undergraduate level?

It appears to be a mix of classes at lay and seminary level. They're not for credit, but this is by far the best thing I've seen on the internet. I had the same reaction to the scholars, too -- I wouldn't listen to online lectures from just anybody, but these guys? What a great idea for an educational ministry, don't you think? :)

Definitely. It looks as if the more people contribute, the more material they can get out there...and the lectures are great with outlines, etc. provided for you. Mounce's Greek class is at least as good as any Greek tutor software...and its free?! I think I will be spending a lot of time on here this summer.

Thank you, Macrina, for showing us this site!

Yes, I have. Currently I'm doing the OT survey, hermeneutics, Biblical literacy, and worship. I've listened to several of the Greek lectures, but for the time being, I'm simply working on my Greek vocab, rather than going all out in a Greek course.

I think these courses are terrific, but as with anything, put it to the test of Scripture and hold to that which is good. Oh, and I haven't paid a dime.

Thanks for chiming in, 2Tim.

2Timothy2 gets full credit for turning up great online resources. Check out his CF homepage for other links helpful to the online scholar. :)
