  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I’m still not following. Is it good or bad to keep Turkey at bay?
Always good to keep Turkey at bay from killing people. Don't you agree? If Trump does that then I support him 100% in doing it. But when he turns the dogs loose to commit ethnic cleansing then I am against it. Is that clearer this time?

One day you will realise that bashing Obama is no longer a valid tactic in political discourse.

There’s some comparison there it seems, the agreement made under Bush and implemented by Obama’s administration didn’t have the desired effect of increasing Iraqi self-government, hence the later decision to go back in and sort out the mess. It’s hard to say the circumstances are the same though, Donald’s off the cuff decision that everyone around him appears to disagree with is pretty alarming. Under Obama there was at least some attempt to make it work: https://www.justsecurity.org/61991/...y-withdrawal-iraq-trumps-syria-disengagement/

Then at one point you supported Trump. Which explains my first comment.

Shouldn't be there in the first place. We created the mess, it's our responsibility (I know a lot of you people hate that word) to clean up our mess before leaving.

It's funny, when we go in to make a mess you folks are all for it but when the mess needs to be cleaned up you say "can't remain there ferever!!!" Maybe if you start supporting and electing people to the US government who don't create messes over there you won't have to worry about cleaning them up.

"Those people" had democracy and freedom until you people screwed everything up, so be careful about saying things on a topic you don't understand at all. Anyway, this kind of anti-Christian sentiment is common among 'Muricans, I'm not surprised by your post.

How do you propose we straighten out that mess? And what would the proper Christian position be on the matter?

Do what it takes to make things right as much as possible. We went in there and opened up killing of innocent civilians by helping terrorists fight against the government. So, to fix that, you reverse course and you support their government and help them fight the terrorists. You also provide whatever restitution you can for destroying so much of their infrastructure and property. You also open up our country to refugees from there who have had their lives ruined and their country ruined to make up for it.

The Christian response is clear in God's Word - "Do unto others as you would have done to you." Well, if some country came into my country and destroyed things I would want them to fix it as much as they can by helping me. I would not want them to leave me open to terrorists after they came in and enabled the terrorists to begin with. So it's very clear what we SHOULD do. Of course, we won't do what we SHOULD do because we only like to exploit other people and take their resources (mammon) but we never want to give to them.

Oh and by the way, I was glad when Trump beat Hillary, very glad, and one of the main reasons was because he was far less hawkish on our wars in the middle east. So, yes, I have supported Trump on some things like that, most definitely. But saying he's better than Hillary is not really an endorsement because she's just that bad.

Don't you think those civilian populations have their responsibility in what happens in their countries? After all it's all one culture over there. As they have said, "You in the west love life, but we love death". Why should we deny them what they love?

Let him that loves death, love death still. Probation is closed.

Sure they do. But when another country invades and destroys then that invading country has disrupted their ability to be responsible and the invading country is morally wrong and at fault. In this case, that would be America who is morally wrong and at fault.

After all it's all one culture over there.
Where did you get this crazy idea from? Because it's dead wrong.

As they have said, "You in the west love life, but we love death". Why should we deny them what they love?
Who said that? Stop making up crap. I can't even take you seriously when you talk out of your rear end like that with inane nonsense.

Let him that loves death, love death still. Probation is closed.
America is him that loves death and the people who blindly support that, like you, love death still.

Probation? What are you talking about? You sound unhinged by bringing up weird, irrelevant nonsense like that.

Islam is as much a culture as it is a religion. Christianity on the other hand is a religion here but not a culture.
