  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I use trendmicro.com's free virus scan (one it's free and two it does a good job) as well as lavasoft's ad-aware (free also). Google's pop-up blocker has worked exceptionally well for me and is also free. Like they say "The best things in life (like salvation) are free." Alot of it depends on where you visit and what you click on. Alot of seemingly innocent things are actually chock full of evil, ready to pollute your mind as well as your computer.

A couple rules to go by:

1 - Never click on pop-ups no matter how promising they sound, especially those that say "Your computer has 14536 viruses on it, please click here to remove them." They're all sinister plots to infiltrate your computer and/or take you places you don't want to go.

2 - Beware of what you download, especially bundled packages. Alot of the time perfectly innocent software is bundled with other things not so innocent. Some examples of this are free screensaver's or free games. They often come with advertising programs or other things you don't need or want.

The best advice I can give to be a careful clicker. Use your best judgement before clicking om or downloading anything.

Hope this helps! Have a great day and God Bless!

Yes, I'm trying to generate a calibration program to run a Magnet from +/- 1000 OE via a Ni 6229 DAQ Card, and measure the reading with a GPIB HALL Sensor.

Anyways the GPIB Communication is quite slow when reading the values as ASCII, so we have to read it with the Binary Command that returns a 6 Byte Value, this offers a 10 fold speed increase.

But I'm wondering what would be the best Filter setting for the HALL sensor :)
