  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Because there is no real credit given for these types of classes. I typically recommend covenant seminary's college classes online or biblicaltraining.org. Both have really good information and provide it freely. A person can learn much from those without every attending seminary.

Actually BLBI says they can give you college credits to apply towards college courses after fully completing their courses....It says it on their site...This is why I chose it...

Here's the deal. College credit doesn't mean much without some type of accreditation. That is a body that oversees the quality of work. Now, there are plenty of fine colleges that do not have any accreditation.

BLBI class MAY transfer into some schools. However, I would not count on it. You see, I was in the boat at one time with a degree from an unaccredited school. I was unsure what education I could pursue after that. I did find a school that accepted my degree, but it was a lot of work.

Once you accept that BLBI may not be all that it is hoped to be. Go ahead and learn from it. In fact, spend some type learning. However the two other websites I gave are as valuable if not more valuable. The information on both sites is at a high level, meaning it will be difficult for you to learn those things. It will be advance, with a much more technical vocabulary. All I want people to do is take an honest look at the program. If it causes you to grow in the knowledge of God, that is great. However, don't be prepared to have all this work go towards some degree. Be happy if it does, but don't expect it.

On a side note, one thing I noticed is that Dave Shirley is not listed as faculty any more. He is a great teacher and pastor. I enjoyed learning from him a lot. His History of Redemption class was good, a little boring at times, but worthwhile.

thanks for the links guys! One of my friends paid almost 30 grand for a massage therapy degree from florida metropolitan college and it wasn't accredited and she didn't get hired anywhere. But I don't know anything about those specific classes yall are talking about. That's too confusing. I don't understand how a school can charge for classes that you can't use.

One thing I think we have to understand is just because a school is unaccredited, does not necessarily mean it's a bad school, or the students are not as well trained. Accreditation only means that there is not an external body that holds the school accountable to some degree.

For instance, I went to Calvary Chapel Bible College, an unaccredited school. This school could not gain accreditation from any body I know of at the time. You see accreditation, often means that all teachers must have Master's degree. This school did not. That said, I learned apologetics at a much higher level than I know of at an undergrad level. There were teachers there who prepped us as much as any other college, I've been to 2 others. So I ended up with a degree from this unaccredited school. Did I learn as much as other schools? Absolutely. Afterwards I started to look around at other schools to see how the programs compare. I'd say that for the most part, CCBC was at the same level as SOME accredited school.

Because of this, I was able to get accepted to a seminary that IS accredited. One day when I have a great apologetic and Christian philosophy ministry (I'm being fairly facisiuos here), I'm sure that someone will write a wonder ad hominem attack about how I'm not qualified to speak on those subjects, based upon my BBS degree.

Thanks so much for the information.

He attends an apolstolic church, he wants to get his degree in Theology and he wants to work in the Ministry and wishes to relocate to North Carolina.

What is your friend looking at doing? Ministry? What denomination is his affiliated with?

Well, in Charlotte North Carolina there is Southern Evangelical Seminary and Bible College. This is a great school. It is accredited, however it does cost quite a bit. The program can be taken mostly via correspondence.

Moody Bible Institute also has a distance learning that is reasonable. I think it is a little cheaper than SES programs.
