One thing that really confuses me is when they use the pronoun "her" for "world". Mmmmm...

I watched a great BBC show with Louis Theroux a few weeks back. It was very eye opening. I think this clip, though not from the show (http://youtube.com/watch?v=O228AQRvcqQ) says a lot.

Firstly, they said to a soldier's daughter at his funeral that he was in hell. Where is the compassion of Jesus in that?

In the program on the BBC, they didn't have assurance of salvation / going to Heaven themselves.

So is this even a "Christian" group? Interesting what Phelp's daughter says... "we're the ones who are strictly adhering to the doctrines of faith of all the mainline religions..."

Did anyone (possibly only fellow Brits here) see the documentary made by Keith Allen about the Phelps family? It was on a few nights back. In it, he revealed that Shirley Phelps-Roper, Fred's daughter,had a son out of wedlock. Not that there's anything wrong with that in itself, but it becomes very, very hypocritical when you're preaching about what you perceive to be sexual immorality.

well if the phelps preach that god hates the world and its people, wouldnt He also hate the phelps? and if He hates the phelps that they are preaching a hateful God which the Christian God does not hate so they are preaching of a non-Christian God so therefor they are not Christians at all

Seeing the little girl at the end singing this song is bone-chilling. I know parents have a legal right to teach their children to hate, but deforming a child's mind like this should have some punishment (in the here and now) attached to it. Poor baby. She doesn't stand a chance.

If one wishes to view a satirization of their church, one need only view their videos or read their tracts twice...once taking it at face value, and the second time for their absurd, farcical comedy. My favorite part of that program is when Theroux basically walks her into calling her group a cult.
