Because not every person on CF speaks English as their first language. Talking in netspeak is rude, because those people have to struggle to understand you or simply can't understand at all. Then they have to ask for clarification (which can be embarrassing) or give up trying to understand you. Even for native English speakers, it's annoying.

You speak English as your first language, correct? It shouldn't be that difficult to spell correctly for the sake of non-native English speakers.

I've been told several time it is disrespectful "2 tlk lik ths" is it and why?(in your opinion)
I don´t think it´s disrespectful. I think it´s counterproductive if you want to be understood, mainly for the reasons TheMissus gave.
I´m not a native speaker, and bad spelling makes it hard for me to find out what someone actually means.
As for using "special languages and spelling" intentionally: I don´t feel disrespected, I will simply assume the person intends to speak only to those who belong to the group in which this language is common and understood. On another discussion board there´s a guy who emulates his southern accent by phonetic spelling, all the time. I see how this can be funny, but I don´t understand a word. I have told him about it several times, but he keeps doing it. I don´t feel disrespected, I just conclude that keeping to his quirky style (and whatever he wants to express by it) is more important to him than being understood by me. He knowingly excludes me from his audience, and that is his perfect right.

I have noticed that you have started to watch your spelling. It makes conversation much easier for me. Thanks for that!

On a side note: You guys and girls are very patient with non-native speakers like me. I´m sure I make a lot of mistakes, but everyone is doing their best trying to understand what I say, without complaining. I really appreciate this!
