Forsaking the assembly

People quote Paul when he said that we shouldn't forsake the assembly of ourselves but they misunderstand the scripture in my opinion. This is not exactly a command. It's there for our good but it's not a command. We are under no obligation to join a church we dont agree with. Paul also said to be careful who we fellowship with. The reason for the assembly is to encourage each other not to sin and to love each other. But politics and divisions are not proper fellowship. Personally I dont need reminded not to sin because I meditate on scripture. People in the first church didn't have Bibles like me.
