Hi!

Once you become a Christian you are sealed with the Holy Spirit [Eph 1]

The second you give your life to Jesus are all of your past present and future sins forgiven there and then on the spot? Or do we have to continue to confess our sins in order for them to be forgiven?

If we have to confess our sins in order for them to be forgiven then can a person enter heaven with unforgiven sins because they have never confessed them?

The overal question is, Does God forgive a Christian who doesn't/forgets to confess their sins?

1Jo 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1Jo 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Since John was without a doubt a Christian at the time he wrote this and yet he includes himself in these statements, I think it makes it clear that we need to confess our sins to Christ.

Regarding your overall question, God knows the heart and He is a merciful, compassionate God. The Bible also clearly states that He will have mercy on whom He will have mercy so He can forgive anyone for anything He chooses. Say it's His perogative. ;)

Another way you might look at it is, say someone you love very much and is close to you does something or says something to hurt you then dies before they can ask you to forgive them. Would that cloud your love for them or your memory of them? Would you condemn them for it? Now, do you believe God is more merciful, loving and compassionate than you?

Hope this helps.

It's important to remember this verse he is talking about a non-christian.No Christian whould ever believe that he had no sin.

1:9 is refering to the sin of unbelief in Christ Jesus!

There no need to confess your sins to get forgiven.YOU ARE FORGIVEN.Christ Jesus TOOK AWAY ALL your Sins at the Cross, but the sin of unbelief in him.Instead of asking him to do what he has already done,we need to thank him.

If Jesus was standing before you,and you asked him to forgive you.He probly have a puzzeled look on his face, and say why,I already did forgive you at the cross, why dont you believe me?

I think continualy to ask Jesus to forgive you,is like a slap in the face.Jesus whould say,I said it was finished at the cross. You say back,No it isn't finished, forgive me again.Jesus whould say I already did.To constitualy ask forgivness is to say all you sins whernt forgiven at the cross.

It is not the case that once forgiven always forgiven. Remember this teaching:

Hebrews 10:26,27

26If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.

That is pretty clear. We must always repent our sins to Jesus who can forgive us and wash us clean. If we were forgiven at the cross, then any sin we commit is automatically forgiven?

Christ Jesus TOOK AWAY ALL your Sins at the Cross, but the sin of unbelief in him.

I would like to know where it says that in the bible. If we just come to Faith in Christ, all we have to do is say sorry for not believing in you? What are new christians repenting of? And why in the bible does it continually say repetance for the fogiveness of sins? Plural... sins.

To be sealed with the Holy Spirit is to be Chrismated by "The Church".... it is the completion of baptism...

Confession is continual... just like bathing.... every time we get dirty we take a bath.... Every time we sin we need to ask forgiveness....

At confession, the Priest forgives all sins remembered or forgotten... that is not to say you can intentionally hide your sins and still have them forgiven...

It's like going to a doctor but not showing him where it hurts....

It doesn't only place it says that is in 1 John 1:9 and if you read 1:8 he is talking to unbelievers.

Its very clear in the new testament that acts-revelation that christians have forgivness of sins.Except 1 john 1:9 which is not talking to christians!

Read John 16:9 as the only sin that remians, unbelief in christ

Upon baptism, we are washed from original sin and are safe for a while. Once we reach an age however in which we are responsible and knowledgful and wise enough to tell the difference between good and evil, we have no excuse. We will be judged for any sins we commit after that point. People must now repent of each sin, and through a cleric is, while not necessary, a Scriptural way to do so. I myself go to a formal confession once a month.

We need to worry about sinning after being baptized. We are not montanists.

We need to repent of all our sins; Jesus didn't die to excuse our sins.

Not according to hebrews. The old covenant is past,we are in the new, with a need for none of these things.
