For an example, of utilizing this examine, when looking upon the first commandment, there are the neglect of prayer, ingratitude towards God and spiritual sloth listed as sins to consider.

When reflecting upon these three, it occurred to me that neglecting my prayer time with God was showing ingratitude and sloth, yes, but most important was the obvious and intentional putting of myself as most important, over God himself and breaking the first commandment.

By neglecting Him, it became obvious that I thought my own self importance was king over everything, and by neglecting prayer and honoring Him through prayer, it showed both ingratitude and sloth.

These were things that I brought to confession.

Jesus said unto him, “‘Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind."

Not a matter of getting back to Him after you first serve yourself.

We are to deny ourselves.
