• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

For 6 years I helped take care of my ailing dad. He had diabetes, heart problems, and was on dialysis for 4 years. So I know how difficult it is to care for someone, esspecially when they have been given a death sentence. It seems like you are going through a constant emotional roller coaster ride. I just want to encourage you to keep caring for your loved one. I promised my dad I would be there for him to the very end and that when he passed I would be there holding his hand. God allowed me to fulfill that promise to my dad. Thank You Lord!! And I have to say it was the most fulfilling time of my life when all was said and done. I know it is difficult to watch helplessly as loved one suffers and whithers away. But knowing you did all you could for that loved one that you could possibly do makes all the sacrafices worth it. So keep it up and keep doing what you are doing. In the end you will not regret it!!!

:) Thank You violet for the compliment. I just wanted to let the caregivers know they are not alone in their struggle. It is very hard to be a caregiver, I know all to well. I also wanted to just encourage them and let them know that there truly is rewards for taking care of another. I too am sad there aren't more post in here because forU.ms is a great source for encouragement. I spend most of my time in the recovery and mental health threads because I can really relate to people. And you don't have the division you have in the theology threads:bow:. And I would like to thank you and all the other staff, for the job you do in keeping these threads clean and running!!! God Bless You!!

What my husband hasn't told you about this equation is that he had to do this for his Father which was hard enough in one lifetime but now has to often do it for me as well because although I am not dying here I am very sick and oftentimes I am laid up in bed... My husband takes care of me by making all the meals in the house, doing all the laundry, doing all the household chores, most of the time the shopping for the house as well ect ....

He also waits on me hand and foot when I am unable to get out of bed. So The poor man twice in his life has had to deal with this type of caregiving and I praise God for him but at the same time I ask God sometimes why he had to do it to him twice in his lifetime because once should have been enough...

I am also a co-caregiver to my mother. My stepdad helps with things I cannot do, such as driving her to appointments. I take care of the house and do the cooking, etc. It is a strain from time to time, but I know God would have me do nothing else right now and I have been encouraged by many that I will receive a blessing from God for my faithfulness and service. All who give care will. :)

God bless you in the time you have spent caring for your father. Our blessings will not be on this earth, but our reward will be great with Jesus in the end. God bless you. I too am a care giver for my husband in early stages of alzheimers.

I was a primary caregiver for my Mother for almost 2 years and I thank God for making it possible. It would not have been possible without his help.

I believe that God will allow us to go through situations so we can learn from them and use what we learn to bless others and to bring glory to his name.

After my Mother passed I became a volunteer for Arkansas Hospice. I sit with patients so their caregiver can get a break. It is so rewarding!

My prayers are with you all and may God Bless you and your families!

Honey,
God didn't do this to me or make me do it. He simply placed love in my heart, His love. And His loves knows no bounds. Maybe I can't climb up on a cross and die for your sins but one thing I can do is love those God places around me unconditionally. It is not a burden to take care of loved ones and those in need, it is a blessing. And so are you! The things I do for you are not because I have to, but rather, because I Love You!:) Rob
