I put this together pretty fast, and I focused more on the structure than the actual words. I'd like to spend more time making a better one. Maybe something more eloquent but with structure as well. I think my next poem will be a sonnet. My favorite :)

We are the faceless
To them we are nameless
We are the lepers
They stay away from us
We starve for a touch
But cries are not enough

They lock us in walls
Dreadful places with creatures that crawl
They are trapped in walls
Beautiful structures, tall, veiling all
They overlook us
No Wednesday prayers for the worthless

But Jesus knows our worth
Enough to die, so we can have a new birth
He is right beside you
And we can rest in His words that we know are true
From my Savior, just one touch
From my Savior, just one touch is more than enough

This is not meant to criticize churches. I used to go to a very loving church. This is more about how Christians (some) overlook the mentally ill. I am just using the actual church building as symbolism. And I know we are all guilty of not loving like we should. I know I am. I'm just putting it out there about the mentally ill because a lot of Christians kind of look down on it. Maybe some of us who are functional enough could reach out to the ones who people are afraid to even come near. And I have met people like this in hospitals. They are not well.

Jesus hears you.
It is wrtten.
"If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you."

"Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

Stand strong you overcomers, all of you that have been persecuted for righteousness sake, you have overcome every wickedness and prevail, by the grace of God. His love for you overcomes every wickedness.

Trust me, Christians aren't the only ones. Our gov't and society in general doesn't seem to care about the mentality ill until they go on a shooting spree. We are paying for our blindness.
