Shalom,

I'm feeling a little overwhelmed at the moment (not necessarily a bad thing but a little scary) in terms of things I am reading regarding my faith. It's as though everything I came to believe in has been turned upside down and yet some jig-saw pieces are also falling into place.

I really do not know where I need to go from here.... I feel that I need to be in a forum area or website where I can just learn/read about the Messianic faith but I don't know how to begin.

For those who are relatively new to the Messianic faith, where did you begin?

My biggest problem is that I am currently in a non-English speaking country and so I do not know where any synagogues are. So are there any online learning areas which helped you immensely? Any interactive lessons/areas covering everything that a new believer should know (particularly a mother/female)?

I feel like how I did when I first realised there was a G-d so I guess I'm really looking at ground-zero type of material so that at least I can then progress up to the meaty stuff later.

I really would appreciate what anyone can offer so thank you in advance.

G-d bless

Henaynei

best advice:

walk, don't run (more new Messianics have been fatal, or near fatal, causulties in collisions at the intersection of Conflicted Street and Confusion Way while trying to make the turn at too high a speed onto Observance & Understanding Turnpike!!)

small bites, chew slowly and well before swallowing (remember, Heimlech was a Jew!!)

Greetings Lotuspetal!

Perhaps you would like to start by telling us what bothers you about your faith? This could be a good jumping off point. I know in my assembly we will talk alot about Shabbat and the reasons why we observe it. Just be slow, no need to jump in, just get your toes wet first.

Peace,

Shalom Valid,

I guess it's the gap between what I knew (was taught) in the Baptist church to what I read in the Bible and what I've learnt here. What I've learnt here matches up with my understanding from reading the Bible and not what I see in the church. I have always felt more inclined to celebrate Shabbat from Friday sunset as opposed to Sunday, to cover my head when I pray etc.. but it's as though the mainstream that I come across tell me that what I do is wrong (and they keep throwing Galatians 3 at me).

So now, I feel as though while I have the opportunity of being away from my member church, I need to just keep silent, and learn :) Much the same feeling I had when I discovered the L-rd and first began to read the Bible - it's an inner urgency to be still in spirit and learn. It's very hard to explain how I feel other than it's overwhelming - I guess it's like (for those of us who are parents) realising that one is now a mother of a helpless baby....and then feeling overwhelmed at the responsibility of parenthood. When I felt like this in terms of motherhood I thought, "Okay, deep breath.... you know absolutely nothing about this so get yourself to the library and online and read up on it"

So this is the stage I'm at now in terms of rediscovering a deeper aspect of my faith :)

In Him

Shalom Henaynei,

LOL! Amen! I think I keep trying to turn at that turnpike in 3rd gear and at 40mph :D

You know what I thought the other day? When we start just weaning our babies onto solids - that's where I'm at spiritually. I think recently I was trying to take a 'gummy bite' out of a banana instead of having it pureed first.

I will certainly take heed of your very sound advice!

Shalom Yod and thank you!

I've currently got this site open in another window and one of my queries was the first of the FAQ's on this site. It's looks like just what I need for now.

Thank you again

Shalom Datsar,

Thank you for your offer - over the next few days I will be posting some queries I have, probably at a time when my little one is asleep (so far, she has successfully managed to tear up 3 of my large envelopes, is onto her fourth and so my time is short now :D).

LOL! Of course I will never leave the community we've got here. I don't know what I would have done without discovering you guys  I guess I feel a little self conscious of how little I do know and sometimes I do not want to see my "pureed food" level of questions next door to someone's "3 course meal" :)

G-d bless

Greetings Lotuspetal!

The Mainstream will always be tough!

Remember back in the day of Messiah, if you were walking around and would be looking for religion, it was the Pharisees who held the high and noble image of being Spiritual. When Messiah came, they would shun him because they did not agree with him. They had 2000 years of teachings behind them, how dare this new guy tell them they have it wrong!

Peace,
