I have a question for the already mom's. I have a 4 year and our next baby is due any day now. I'm really nervous about this second baby. See with my first the doctor had to induce me, so i didn't experience what some women do. My water never broke and I didn't have contractions until I got to the hospital where thrn they gave me an epirdual(sp?) My concern is, for the past 5-6 months, everytime I cough sneeze, burp, fart or whatever, I pee on myself. So I've had to wear pads for women that can't control they're bladder. Which has been a life saver, cause who whats to change clothes every 5 mins. Since I haven't experienced my water breaking, if mines does break on it's own this time, will I be able to tell while wearing one of these pads. It's a regular pad, just more pading, not a diaper. I don't mean for this to be a lame ? Everything is different with this pregnacy. :help:

Um, with my second I thought my water had broken and I had actually peed on myself -- no cough or sneeze, just whoosh. Then at the hospital when I was in labour and getting my epidural my water broke, and I thought I'd peed myself again. The nurse had to tell me that it had broken.

So, uh, no, you might not be able to tell. :) Look online, there's a way you can tell if it's urine or amniotic fluid by the color or smell or something. Or call you doctor, he can tell you. Also watch for other signs like contractions. And don't be afraid to call or go to the hospital even if you aren't sure. The nurses are used to women who only think they are in labour.

Pickle I'm with you I've never had it happen either with 3 kids. 2 were induced. The 3rd my doc stripped my membranes cause I didn't want to be induced but I could barely move. That was Monday, by Wednesday I was spotting slightly I took a pill that would start my labor or stop it. It started 8 hours later I was having contrations that were less then 10 minutes apart (around 7). Long story short even when my contrations were that close and that intense my water never broke the doctor had to do it. Use your contractions as your guide, You'll know the real ones and when it's time to get to the hospital.

With my daughter, my water broke as I was getting out of bed. It started as a trickle and then more than a trickle by the time I got to the bathroom. Not to be gross, but it doesn't smell like pee. I was quite nervous with my son, I thought that if my water didn't break then I wouldn't know if I was in labor. Well, my water didn't break. I started having contractions in the morning, but wasn't sure that they were real so I waited around the house and called the dr. at 11:00, by this time they were pretty regular and noticeable. I was at the hospital by noon and I was already 6-7cm :) It was great doing most of the laboring at home. You will know when it is time, just relax and enjoy this time. Wishing you much luck in the upcoming birth and am praying for you and your family.

I think its different for everyone and possibly different with each pregnancy. In my case (i only have one child), I "felt" my water break. it felt painless, but I felt it "pop"...not to be gross either, but it was definitly not a trickle. I don't think a pad would have prevented me from feeling it.
In my own experience, I never even knew I was in labor. It was late at night and I was chasing a mouse, trying to get it out of my house. (Hey that rhymes!) Finally, I gave up and went to bed, but I couldn't sleep and just felt "uncomfortable"...it didn't really feel like "contractions", or at least what I was told a contraction would feel like. Then it just broke all of a sudden while I was laying down.
FYI: run a google search for articles regarding "Kegel" excercises. This will help you to strengthen those bladder muscles..it really worked for me. I hope it helps you!

Congratulations on your new baby!!! :)

My son was born by emergency ceasarean, so I don't know what the waters breaking feels like. ALthough, from what I have heard, you would know if your waters broke. My SIL waters broke all over the floor at her place and they had to get someone to clean the carpet while she was in hospital.

It sounds like you have the same problem that i had, with your bladder. It is really embarrassing. Have you heard of pelvic floor exercises? They should help.

I've tried doing these exercises, it doesn't help me. The doctor said the baby is pretty much putting pressure on my bladder. It is embarrassing. Before I started wearing these pads, I'd have to change clothes and jump in the bath 10 x's a day. I'd run out of clothes. They feel bulky, but hey I got to do what I gotta do, cause I don't want to change a million times a day, or cough in a public place and wet myself.

How long have you got to go, before the baby is born?

I'm due on the 19th, but the doctor says any day now. He says that because of the feel of my stomach and the weight he thinks the baby is right now. He thinks she is already bigger than my son was when he was born and that was 7'4. In all I have only gained 10 lbs. I was A LITTLE chuncky, and had a jelly roll. The baby has taken up all that extra fat. I worried at first, but the doctor said all the better. If you see my belly you'd understand, I look like I'm gonna burst.

I'm so excited for you!!!!!
Are you haveing any contractions today? (braxton hick or the real thing!)
I would like to pray for you, I hope that is okay.
Lord, I thank you so much for this little baby that is about to come into this world. I pray that you would strengthen Mom and baby for labour and delivery. Lord, I ask that you would protect them and that Mom would have the peace that passes all understanding.
In Jesus name. Amen

I went to the doctor today. My due date is in 2 days!!!! Why is it that Ob's have big hands, there should be a law against that!!! Anyways, The doc said if I do not go into labor by this weekend then Sunday night I need not to eat after 11 and then get get up early (4:00) and go to the hospital so he can induce me. With my first child the doc had to induce, so that's what I'm comfy with, so I guess I'm hopeing for Mon morning. Thanks everyone for they're prayers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Going into labor on your own, at least for me, was so cool! I had a scheduled induction, but Eden was born 2 hours before I was supposed to be at the hospital for it. :) Both times it happened within 24 hours of my doctor's visit in which they stripped the membrane, and yeah, they do all seem to have hands that are way to darn big. ;) I wish you a wonderful birthing experience.

Love, Heather

Matter of fact, Friday night I was online here, When my contractions started, but all day I was feeling different. It felt like a period cramp. I just got off the computer and got my self ready and my son's things ready. He was going to spend time with his Meemaw. I started pickin' up the house too, why, I have no idea, something to do. My husband was working and I guess I was trying not to panic. When they got close I called my doc, and he said to come on up. My hubby was stuck in traffic. I called him and told him I'd meet him at the hospital. I then gathered everything I needed, and my son and hopped in the car. I had to drive myself to the hospital, with my son as my coach. He kept telling me it was going to be okay, the doctor would fix it, and it told me to breathe. Something him and his daddy must of talked about. Anyways, we made it to the hospital, and I very proud of myself, I didn't flip out. Anyways, to make a long story short, I got to the hosppital at 8pm fri. and had her Sat at 9:50am. She's 8lbs 5ozs 19 in long. We named her Taegan Jaycee Lane (last name) The funny thing is, she looks exactly like her older brother did when he was born. They could be twins that were 4 years apart. Thanks everyone for you prayers and your answers to my silly ?'s.
