  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is the story of my friend's cat, Keister. She was very old and the vet said she didn't have long to live, kidney failure among other things. So, my friend decided to give her a few good "last meals". This was boiled or broiled chopped meat or fish. Slowly the cat begin to eat a little more day by day. The cat almost recovered!! She has still been an old cat for two more years -- the Vet was amazed. Keister even chases chipmunks again. The Vet said he had been to a conferance and they said cat food isn't the best thing for cats since their bodies really are carnivorious and there are a lot of grain products in the cat food. He thinks it was the two years of mostly a meat and fish diet that has extended the cat's life. Thought it might be useful information to someone.

I'm so glad that your friends cat is doing better! Most cat foods, especially the store brands (Purina, Meow Mix etc) and even many of the brands you can find at Petsmart & Petco really aren't the best for peoples pets. Sure, they may say that they provide all of the nutrition needed, but how many times have you seen a cat or dog raiding someones corn field? :) Thanks so much for posting this!

I have to stick to cat food, I'm afraid - my cat has had urinary tract problems, and the vet put him on that special food that prevents crystals and blockage. My cat is not allowed to have ANY treats, scraps, nothing. Just his prescribed kitty food... :( Amy
Poor kitty... I can't imagine if I had to eat the same thing every day all the time, especially if it was prescription stuff! ((((HUG)))) for the kitty
