  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Did you ever wipe the ashes from your forehead after receiving them? I ask because my daughter has just come home from school and she had Mass at school and i expected to see the ashes upon her forehead...and :sigh: ...she say's that everyone wiped them off after Mass because they thought they all looked stupid..just wondering how you all felt about having the ashes upon your forehead as a pre/teen.:)

I wouldn't worry about it kids are so insecure and worried about what people think of them, I was the same way. They outgrow it eventually, I believe :)
I know, but you'd think that since all 1000+ pupils had the ashes placed upon their foreheads that they would have realised that there was no 'odd man out'...i am still encouraged, i'm hoping to take her to Adoration with me on Saturday...who know's...could be a nun in the making  (actually, this is very unlikely but who can estimate the power of the Blessed Sacrament!)

I would always keep them on as long as possible. I never used to comb my hair but I would slick it back so my forehead would be exposed for Ash Wednesday :) I am getting them today at 5:30, but I wish I had gotten them before work so I could walk around with my ashes.

I thought ashes just naturally fell off, or got wiped away accidentally.

I remember being anointed with oil by the bishop at confimation though - i left that on till i went home, then i washed it off because I thought it might give me spots :sorry:
