Hi @James_Lai You raise a great question. When the Messiah said this, He was refering specifically to eating with unceremonially washed hands, a practice of the Pharisees. If you read the whole passage it will become clear. The Lord wasn't saying "it is now okay to eat pork". But if He did mean that, or the people understood it that way, He would have been stoned or disregarded as a false prophet. He would have also become a sinner according to the Law and therefore His sacrifice would have been compromised. What constitutes as food in your book and God's though? Some people would think James Lai is just food for nutrients and energy :) Yahweh is the Creator. He understands the animal kingdom with far greater intimacy than any biologist or nutritionist. If He says some animals are unclean to eat, who are we to argue? But let’s take pork for example. Pigs eat anything, they are walking bins effectively. The same with shellfish who hoover up the sea floor full of waste material. Or birds of prey, who sully their stomach with the blood of others. The Creator has said what is clean and unclean to eat in His great wisdom and knowledge. If we don't understand it all like He does, does that even matter when it comes to obedience? We must be careful not to listen to our stomachs over the Word. Indeed. An also people suffer from various diseases, mental health issues, shortened life spans, blood conditions, skin issues and spiritual problems. It's not as easy as saying "he ate pork yesterday and he seems fine today". Otherwise we can do the same for those who commit adultery or lie. We have no idea of the long term repercussions from extended periods of consumption which may not be so obvious immediately. But stomach issues and cancer are amongst the most major ailments in the West. Who is to say that unclean food and consuming blood isn't to blame for such conditions and others? But let’s say you have a child. You tell the child not to touch the unclean dog poo in the park as he plays, because it's dangerous. However, he picks it up and plays with it and then drops it, wiping his hands on his trousers. "I'm fine" he thinks "what is dad talking about, there is no danger here". Does the child have unclean hands in your eyes? Because the child was okay this time, are you glad or are you still disappointed at the lack of obedience? Anyway, great question. I was asking the same things before I switch to eating clean according to the Creator. It's not an easy transistion as first, as this world makes eating unclean very easy and desirable. Nevertheless, I'm so glad I did. Peace.
