The first mention of a river in the bible is in Genesis:
Gen 2:10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.
If you, starting following the references in the bible about rivers, next thing you know, you may feel like you are in a boat traveling through the word of God.
Following the river leads to many different places and events in the bible. There were dreams and visions about the rivers and from the rivers came answers for questions men were praying about.
The bible speaks of bondage on this side of the river, and on the other side would be the land of promise.
The rivers would have names beginning from Genesis when the river started flowing out of Eden to water the garden. And from there it parted into four heads, and each had a name. One of the most memorable is the river of Jordan where John baptized Jesus.
Then there is another river that has always caught my attention when I would read it. It is in Rev 22:1 And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
After traveling from Genesis to Revelation taking a look at the rivers, there is a river I want to stop at in Ps 46:4
[There is] a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy [place] of the tabernacles of the most High.
4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
I am so thankful that in 1972, I receive the water Jesus is talking about.
That was when I got saved and the Holy Ghost of God came into my heart, and I became a new person. Of course at the time I did not realize all that was taking place, all that I knew was I was forgiven and saved by the grace of God.
Jesus also said the water He would give would spring unto everlasting life. I can say without hesitation the Holy Spirit has brought me through every valley and problem I have every faced. As King David said there is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God.
Rev 22:1 And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
Rev 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
I was filled with joy and happiness after God saved me and that river which is the Holy Ghost started flowing in me has washed many a tears from my eyes and gave me hope when there seem to be none.
Since that day in 1972 the Holy Spirit has brought me through every valley and problem I have faced. And I am persuaded He will bring me through any future problems and get me home safely. And Jesus will do the same for you.
