Florida executioned might have been innocent

I've worked in law for 5 years, I've been called to Jury Duty twice in the five years I worked in law and whether working in law or sitting through jury duty we have as good of legal system that can be practiced. As with any system there are going to be mistakes made. It is unfortunate that innocent people die, there are any number of reasons why they get convicted, however at least we have as fair of a system humanly possible.

I thought every human was guilty of multiple felonies. Only difference is some get caught in this life annd some don't.

Reminds me of an old Chinese proverb: Beat your wife every morning. Even if you don't know what she did wrong, she does.

Some people don't care that innocent people have been murdered, or "might have died" by the state. Since the vast majority of the murdered are blacks or latins, and the people who don't care about innocents being killed are white, they don't feel threatened.

How often do people escape, and then kill, in Canada??

The point is, the homicide rate has fallen steadily since the abolition of the death penalty.

What about the innocent people who are killed by convicted murderers who weren't executed, but would have been if the death penalty hadn't been abolished?

You see, there is no system ever devised by man under which innocent people do not get killed. If I am wrong, please tell me about such a system. Then, when we have eliminated the problem of innocent people dying, we will address the other problems in the world, such as hunger, hate, and light beer. With luck, we might have it all straightened out by dinnertime.

By supporting the death penalty, you are supporting murder. Full stop. There is no way around that. Sure, people who are put to death cannot commit more crime...because they have been MURDERED.

How on EARTH can you people cry 'murder murder!' at the termination of a pregnancy at the embryo stage, but not be outraged to the core at the state-sanctioned MURDER of fully formed adult human beings?

The hpocrisy of some people is shocking.

Oh yes, he was obviously innocent, it was all about racism and after all what on earth could ever turn a witness? Nothing could ever turn a witness after a trial… not threats… or being followed… or for any other reason. Gosh, we were so wrong, justice is completely blind my friends. We should let em’ all out… by where you live of course. You can employ them to baby sit and escort your wife to the market and other such low priority tasks. It’s all good!

It depends on our motives.... if we jail people to protect others from their behavior, it is loving towards those protected (and essentially neutral towards those jailed).... your family is just as safe from a killer in a well-built jail as they are from a killer who has been murdered by your government!! I grant that people in prison are often not safe from one another, but this is both a defect of prisons and a matter of choice for those who end up in prison....

Also, if we jail people in order to teach them the wrongness of their acts, to educate them in the desire for peace and respect for the rights of others, (and for those who have committed less sever crimes) to teach them skills and a trade so they can contribute to society, there is none of the vengeance that would immoralize imprisonment....

Right, there's never been a case of someone in Jail getting a Hit done on a witness, or other people that testified aganst them has there ? (Note The answer is yes, there has been cases of this)

No one is saying that prisons are perfect. It does not mean we stop trying to make things better.

I would think this could just as easily be accomplished in the average ten years that a prisoner is sitting on Death Row.... if not, that speaks to some better security provided against this event, rather than the fact of a death sentence being imposed....
