  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In Mark 13:14 Jesus said;"But when you shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not,(let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains."

This abomination of desolation has already been fulfilled in a literal sense in the place that it ought not, which is the holy place, or holy mount in Jerusalem. But I believe these natural events of the past hold a deeper spiritual meaning. Just as the instructions for the children of Zion was to flee from that earthly mount at Jerusalem, to the mountains.

The call made to God's people to come out of the sinful city is also shown in Revelation 18:4 where the voice from heaven says"Come out of her, my people, that you be not a partaker of her sins, and that you recieve not of her plagues." This sign is also shown in Zechariah 2:7 when the Lord told his people "Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon."

Zion in scripture is the Holy mountain of God, which by natural location was at Jerusalem. But we see in Galations 4:26 there is also a heavenly Jerusalem. So Jesus declared in Mark 13:14 that the place which was supposed to be a holy place, was not so holy by reason of her abominations. Which by the way, is in the likeness of many of the false religions and beliefs in the man-made church system these days.

But what did the Lord mean when he told his people to flee to the mountains? I believe this language given in scripture has a deeper spiritual meaning, as is shown in Revelation 6:16 when the people of the earth ask the mountains and the rocks to fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sits on the throne.

In Micah 6:2 the Lord says;"Hear ye, O Mountains, the Lords controversy, and you strong foundations of the earth: for the Lord has a controversy with his people, and he will plead with Israel." In Ezekiel 6:3 Ezekiel is told to speak to the mountains of Israel. So could these mountains of Israel and foundations of the earth be the children of Israel?

I believe we are given a clue in Psalm 87:1 where it says;"His foundation is in the holy mountains. (meaning more than one) I believe we are given more insight into these foundations in the heavenly Jerusalem in Revelation 21:14. We read;"And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb."

I believe the 12 apostles were also given as a latter day sign of the 12 tribes of Israel. This same sign is also shown in Exodus 24:4 when after Moses had written all the words of the Lord, he rose up and built an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel."

This same sign is also shown in the 12 wells of water in Exodus 15:27, and also in the 12 manner of fruit in Revelation 22:2 from the tree of Life. This fruit is like the new wine that would flow out from these mountains,(Joel 3:18) and we are told that the leaves of the tree shall be for the healing of the nations.

And this 12 manner of fruit, and the leaves whose substance is in them is shown in Isaiah 6:13 as the tenth part, which was to return, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: the holy seed shall be the substance thereof."

So who are these pillars and foundations of the earth, these mountains that bring the new wine, and bare 12 manner of fruit in due season, and heal the nations with their leaves?

I believe they are much like the 12 apostles in their day.

They are seen in the 144,000 who stand on the mount Sion with the Lamb from each of the 12 tribes of Israel as seen in Revelation 14:1. They are the ones who have the Fathers name written in their foreheads. And like the new wine that is to flow from those mountains, they are to sing a new song.

Jesus said in Matthew 24:32;"Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, you know that the summer is nigh:"

Isaiah 2

1The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
2And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. 3And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

Genesis 8:5;"And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen."

Isaiah 51:16-17

King James Version (KJV)

16And I have put my words in thy mouth, and I have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion, Thou art my people. 17Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, which hast drunk at the hand of the LORD the cup of his fury; thou hast drunken the dregs of the cup of trembling, and wrung them out.

1Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean. 2Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.

Luke 21:20;"And when you shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know the desolation thereof is nigh."

2 Kings 6:15-17;"And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, and host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! what shall we do?"16. "And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them." 17. "And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha."

Revelation 9:17; And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire smoke and brimstone."

Joel 2

1Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;
2A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.
3A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.
4The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run.
5Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.
6Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness.
7They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks:
8Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded.
9They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief.
10The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining: 11And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?

Rocks and mountains are the leaves of a fig tree, they cover. "When my father and mother forsake me then shall you call me up" Though I've no doubt that things in the natural will progress but this speaks of a reality that is within. Pass the Holy Place. Two came out of the Garden only One returns. That which is without the garden causes us to eat and thereby drive's us from the Truth as it is in Christ, this Truth/Life in us. Our father has forsaken us via the cross but our mother is still trying to hold on to this image and likeness of dust.

Very interesting.

My belief is that this refers to the Jewish nation during the tribulational time...that they will be drawn back to Israel (as they are being now), but only 1/3 of them will live through the wrath of God, and those are the ones who make it to Petra in time.

I believe the Jewish people also know they will do this, as the work being done at Petra is amazing....preparing for desperate living?

Do you actually believe this as unmoveable, or is it what you think, as in surmise?

Do you mean am I dogmatic about the prophecy Scripture and what it means? Yes, I am. :) The Jews also believe they need to prepare Petra for safety.

Under the impression that many truths of Scripture have dual or multiple applications of outward/literal and inward/spiritual.

Fleeing cities has been, and will be, a defensive strategy for those not called to enter the fray, and "violently defend"; but outward fleeing must be incorporated with inward fleeing, or else our fleeing will be in vain.

Remember Lot's wife.

You perceive correctly, the carnal mind judges things based on appearances, which is the outward things. But it is the mind of the Spirit that searches the hidden truths, the deep things of God.

Paul refered to the outward carnal things as the milk, and the inward spiritual things as the meat.

1 Corinthians 3:1
And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
