Does anyone "get" FLCL? I watch it and it sort of makes my head hurt. I mean I sort of follow the storyline but ...I'm confused! Can anyone please tell me what the point is?

I don't think anyone can follow it. I mean, Evangelion is easier to figure out than FLCL, IMO (considering both were made by Gainax, it's not surprising). Great artwork, though.

Do you get Dalí? My favorite part about the anime is the sheer surrealism of it all, and all the bizarre non-sequiters.

Reading the manga (very different, and a lot more gritty, than the anime) and looking at the similarities in other Gainax productions helped me formulate my own view of what the 'meaning' is, though I only think I have it half right. I might also just be misinterpreting it. Most of all, it's just fun.

It's all about fun. It's the struggles of maturity vs. immaturity, parents vs. adults, etc. Ever notice how the adults in it are all the immature ones? (Naota's father, Amarao, Naota's teacher) It's very interesting.
