Which I have found to be full of falsehood. You obviously have a different definition of "true" to the rest of us.This is a true statement according to Hendries books
Think u said u read just 2 chapters. Again this is going nowhere. I believe Gods words when he repeatedly said the earth is mounted on pillars and cannot be moved. You don’t believe God when he said it. Really your take on the Bible is different than mine. Moot much more can be said about this.Which I have found to be full of falsehood. I think that @prodromos has a more traditional, more believing view of the Bible than me. My view is that the Bible is inspired in main theological and moral points, everything else is a human work.I have come to the conclusion that you & @trophy33 don't believe the Bible, right or wrong ?

Thats why I can agree with you that Bible refers to the flat earth Mesopotamian cosmology and in the same time recognize that the Earth is actually a globe.

Are you even trying to read me? I already said that my view is that only main theological and moral points in the Bible are inspired. The rest is human work, not God's word.Hmm - Mesopotamian cosmology ? So what your really saying is that God's word in the Bible is not true ?
This is not a fundamentalist or literalist Bible believing Christian forum. Christians of various beliefs, views, opinions and traditions are here. Christianity on this forum is defined pragmatically and minimalistically as believing in Christian basics - main points.Really I thot this was a Bible believing Christian forum.
There is a word for that friend. It’s called cherry picking. I guess you believe someone issued you the authority to dismiss scripture that doesn’t fit your personal theology.Wrong in various cultural or historical details. Not wrong in main theological and moral points.
Have you ever read two various Gospels at once? There is a word for that friend. It’s called cherry picking. I guess you believe someone issued you the authority to dismiss scripture that doesn’t fit your personal theology.
Personally, I was involved in the 3 main denominations of Christianity. Protestant - Southern Baptist Church , Cult type - Mormon Church , Orthodox - Greek Orthodox Church. Each in their own way claimed to have the true gospel. One day I picked up the Bible and asked the Lord, “will you tell me what you think about your book?” Since then the good Lord has had mercy on me and has given me understanding thru scriptural study and revelations. The only way I could receive this spiritual guidance from God is I gave up my inherited perceptions of the gospel and surrendered to his will and authority. Today I can see the clarity of Gods word only because I threw off all my personal inherited perceptions of my previously held biblical convictions. Just saying…..Have you ever read two various Gospels at once?
Do you know something about textual criticism, various canons, different textual families, different compilations made from selected manuscripts?
Can you read at least one original language?
If you did, you would know its not "cherry picking", but simply a reflection of reality.
The problem with what you just said is that God already said in no less than 7 combined verses that the earth is mounted on pillars and cannot be moved. So who are we to believe? The God of the Bible who already told us what his creation looked like or you?Biblical flat earth believers interpret God's word massively out of skew to suit their belief that the earth is flat.
Its not flat. This has been proven beyond doubt, again and again.
Nothing will convince them otherwise.
Even if God was standing in front of them telling them that the earth was a sphere they would still argue with Him that it was flat!!!!!!
No answer to my specific questions. Indeed, if you know nothing about the text you are reading, you can believe anything about it. Wrong views will stop working only if you learn more about it.Personally, I was involved in the 3 main denominations of Christianity. One does not have to learn another language to understand the Bible. Trying to impress someone with your language skills does not help this discussion. Btw I was trying to let u know how I was able to receive guidance and revelations on Gods word once I cleared my mind of my inherited perceptions. I was like many of you here filled with the various denominations creed. No answer to my specific questions. However, its a shame you did not even learn any original language, when you believe God inspired every word in that language.
Its a shame that you, who believe every word was inspired, are too lazy to learn the original language in which these words were inspired and read only one (?) of thousands of translations. One does not have to learn another language to understand the Bible. It’s more of a shame you cannot believe God when he repeatedly says the same thing over and over and u still deny the creators version of how he created the earth. On another note, I have read the Bible, The book of Enoch, The book of Jubilees, The book of Jasher, The Apocrypha, The Lost Books of the Bible, The Kolbrin Bible, The Septuagint, much of the works of Josephus, and currently working on The Dead Sea Scrolls. Didn’t need another language once. Its a shame that you, who believe every word was inspired, are too lazy to learn the original language in which these words were inspired and read only one (?) of thousands of translations.
Not to say to learn even more - about compilations, textual families, translation theory etc. Or, oh mine, to even learn about Mesopotamia and its culture and influence on Jews.
