What you feel isn't the plane/train/car (PTC) moving but the irregularities that PTC encounters on its journey. If you were in a plane which gave a 100% smooth ride and had 100% perfect sound proofing then it'd be impossible to detect your motion relative to anything else. You can feel a plane/train/car moving. How come you cannot feel the earth rotating?
It's not merely NASA that says that. Every physicist on Earth knows that to be true.morse86 said:For atheists:
NASA says the earth is spinning and everything is moving with the atmosphere.
The atmosphere is at rest relative to the surface of the Earth. When the speed of a plane is given it's specified relative to the rest frame of the atmosphere, i.e. with respect to the surface of the Earth. Therefore when a plane moves its moving relative to the surface of the Earth and that's how it gets to its destination.morse86 said:So how come when a plane is moving in the opposite direction in the "atmosphere"....the plane only cruises at 500mph, the earth is spinning 1037mph.......so how can the plane get to it's destination?!?!? Either everything moves with the atmosphere or it doesn't, you cannot have it both ways.
Obviously it can't so that passage can't be taken to be literally true. It's possible to interpret "World" as the middle East since that's only what most people back in Biblical days knew of.morse86 said:For christians:
The book of revelation states that AFTER the moon and sun has been darkened, the Lord Jesus Christ will come down in the clouds AND EVERY EYE shall see. You will know for sure it is the day of the lord.
So in a round earth, how can people on the other side see Jesus at the same time? In a flat earth, it's simple.
The atmosphere is quite heavy (it's a firmament) and spins along with the earth as if part of the earth.
At the equator, the circumference of the Earth is 40,070 kilometers, and the day is 24 hours long so the speed is 1670 kilometers/hour ( 1037 miles/hr). This decreases by the cosine of your latitude so that at a latitude of 45 degrees, cos(45) = .707 and the speed is .707 x 1670 = 1180 kilometers/hr. You can use this formula to find the speed of rotation at any latitude.
So explain this:
NASA says:
If you're in the western part of the US, you're moving around 150mph, if you move slightly east, you're moving around 300mph.
You're telling me we cannot feel a difference of almost 150mph?!?!?!?!?

Here, I'll field this one.
Jesus is God.
If everyone on earth had a blindfold on and was buried 1000 meters underground when He returned, He could still make them all see Him if He wanted to. Probably via a direct spiritual vision or some other such method.
No you're telling us you can't read a graph.
You're telling me we cannot feel a difference of almost 150mph?!?!?!?!?
I think it's much simpler than that kind of speculation. A basic idea concerning the Parousia is that it'll be obvious. And that's really all such language needs to mean.

That's quite untrue. Especially since you're not stating with what that speed is relative to.morse86 said:If you're in the western part of the US, you're moving around 150mph, if you move slightly east, you're moving around 300mph.
Please forgive me for saying so (I don't wish to appear rude whatsoever) but you don't appear to understand something very important about physics that any physicist learned as a freshman and knows like the back of their hand. And that's the fact that it's impossible to determine how fast you're moving relative to something else unless you were to measure the relative velocity. And you certainly can't tell whether you're moving relative to the Earth's surface. It simply cannot be "felt". What exactly is it that you think that you'd "feel"? It appears that you're confusing acceleration with velocity.morse86 said:You're telling me we cannot feel a difference of almost 150mph?!?!?!?!?
What is all of this about anyway? Do you actually believe that the Earth is flat?
Many times you can't. I've lost myself in a book or a movie on a plane and forgot that I was moving. I think it has something to do with the fact that the earth is really big and we are really small. You can actually get a sense of the rotation of the Earth by watching the sunrise or the moon rise. It takes a lot of concentration. You can feel a plane/train/car moving. How come you cannot feel the earth rotating?
How come a helicopter can hover at the same spot without moving with the earth??!?!?
Can we just declare Morse86 as a Poe now?
You're forgetting about the other three corners of the cubic day. Just allow your navel to connect you to all four corners of the day, and you'll be fine....For christians:
