I love the work of Flannery O'Connor. She is one of the best American authors in our time IMO. I know at one point she was considered for the sainthood in the Catholic Church for her deep piety. She has recently been canceled over some so-called "racist" comments she made in her personal correspondence.

Is it ok to pray for the repose of her soul, her canonization, and ask for her prayers? Or is that heretical?

God bless

We don't judge so we pray for souls.

You can say those prayers.

The cancel culture will ultimately cannibalise itself after killing off everything else. Flannery O’Connor was a complex author that those folks are unwilling to understand. She is not the ogre she has been painted to be. Not at all. Don’t let her be cancelled. Nor Junipero Serra.

I love Flannery’s work too and pay occasional visits to her farm. It’s nice. You can see peacocks and type on her typewriter. I like to visit Sacred Heart Church too. Father Young there has made me laugh great belly laughs with the way he gears his homilies towards the college kids. He says he gets a lot of complaints from older, stiffer visitors, but it’s okay because he has a lot of complaints too. :) He once gave a whole homily about how “Jesus had balls” and reiterated that phrase several times, just to make sure nobody was mistaken in their hearing. I was almost on the floor during that one. I’m thankful for faithful priests with balls. This is a battle after all.

Amen! You're exactly right!

(I think we especially need Junipero Serra's prayers now).

Wonderful! I would love to visit Georgia and her childhood home! I should put that on my bucket list! :)
