  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

(Just to be PC, this naturally includes flagMEN, of course!

This is a thread for us flagladies to get together and fellowship. No rules (except CF rules, of course) about what kind of worship art you do, no exceptions. If you've never lifted so much as a teacup in church before, you'll still be welcome just so long as you just come to share or enquire. We love to share our ministry.

Some come on, folks, what's your favourite expression. Do you dance with your flags, just keep to the sides and a personal worship or do you get to be up on the podium with the worship band (my particular dream!).

What colours do you prefer or do you, like me, choose according to the leadings of the Holy Spirit, the atmosphere or the song?

Woohoo 1st reply!
I am sooo glad that this is here, we should all stand together on this - that flags are to be used for spiritual warfare and not for the purpose of performing and looking good.
Because when I do it I am in the throne room and only me and God are there!
so for the people who worry like me,
don't because....
you're giving glory to God in your own way

This will make your relationship with him stronger

(Of course let me know if I am wrong)

Hello, Luv!

The first time I ever wanted to worship the Lord with ribbons and streamers and such, was when I saw a television commercial for the "Arts" and a woman in a black leotard waved a white narrow airborne ribbon across the screen for but a moment.
Something inside me jumped up and said , "The LORD deserves to be worshiped like that!"
It was so beautiful and lovely.

So I set out on a journey to find what now are called "ribbon dancers".
At first I wanted a narrow one like the Olympic Gymnasts use, like the one I saw on TV.
Then I discovered Chinese women use wide ribbons in their traditional celebrations- absolutely gorgeous!

I made some of my streamers, and bought some from a company that sells to school marching bands!
I have a white silk one that cost $26 (15 years ago).

I think whatever we can do to reflect the glory of the LORD in a holy and glorious and beautiful way, we should do.

I was always taught that the dancers should dance before the congregation, so that's what I do.
I actually am no dancer, but when I am moved by the Holy Spirit with prophetic unction, I can become quite bold.

We have been attending a Baptist church for 2 years now.
There is no such demonstration allowed.
I miss worshiping the Lord freely.
I guess I can do it at home,
but there's something to be said for corporate worship,
and for encouraging my brothers and sisters in the Lord to lift up their eyes toward Heaven!

I agree, and I know exactly what you mean!
It's just me and Jesus,
and He deserves my complete adoration!

I made myself some very large flags, about 3 ft by 4 ft!
I used them for outdoor worship and praise.
The blue ones made of taffeta make a loud powerful sound as the cut through the air.
The demons tremble at the sound.

I also made 2 gold ones out of a gold lame tablecloth I got at Goodwill for $5!!
And these purple ones also.
I try to use Biblical colors used in the Tabernacle,
or colors that represent the holiness and glory of God.

We were doing outdoor praise and worship on September 9, 2001-
2 days before the terrorist attacks on the U. S.

There is know reason why you cannot worship the lord in your own personal time. I think it is more moving that way because you can loose your self and not have a care in the world!

Amen to that, sezzie! When I started with flags, I was very intimidated by the leader of the church. It was a free church with Brethren roots and the music was provided by the piano-playing leader who was a music, drama and arts teacher. Also very much of the 1 Tim 2:12 type! Once in a while some young lad would offer to play drums or guitar but they rarely came back again!

My friend and I both asked if we could do flags during the service but though he said yes, he was clearly not in favour and did everything he could to prevent us being effective.

Then I moved up to Sunderland UK to a church which has the most awesome band and the pastor there was more than happy for me to do flags. I started off at the back, despite my mentor expressing consternation because, as she pointed out, flags is all about warfare and you don't lead an army from the back!!

Almost exactly the same time she said that to me, the pastor suggested I come up front to do the flags and even rearranged the seating a little to accomodate me!

I had a wooden wheelie bin made and put a lot of flags in it for everyone else. They were well used at first but slowly it's come down to just me. But I have my own bag of around 15 flags I bring every week and I change the colours from song to song. Often I am amazed how, after I've picked up a couple of flags at random, they turn out to be exactly right for the song! Like I pick up red and the next song turns out to be "Nothing But The Blood"!!

Never the less, I like to concentrate on the Lord, the music and the words. Lift the flags and you get lifted onto another plane of existance, don't you!

Hi flagladies and gentlemen!!

My wife and I are so blessed to go to a place to worship that allows us to use our flags and banners and dancing to worship the Lord!!

I am looking for a flag that I saw being used on God TV at the Toronto experience...it was a flag with the Lion of Judiah that ran into the Israeli flag...If any one can help me find this flag so that I can purchase it??? Please please please!!!!

Hello Mike!

I think it must have been one of the flags that are sold at www.jesuspaintings.com , as I have seen a flag described like that. You just click on ''silk banners'' at that webpage. I bought the one with the Lion of Judah and the Menorah on, and it gives me goose bumps to lift that flag, even looking at it gives me the good chills. I bought the half size flag, and it is big enough for me. I just love it.

Mike, welcome to the club! I love to see you guys using flags. There's a strength and power in your worship. Where the ladies have passion and adoration I can always see the warrior and the warfare in the men's. The two complement each other perfectly.

One similar to this? There's a few around similar.

Isn't it awesome?
Our church actually purchased 2 "flags" from them that we requested by hemmed from the top to use as small banners....

The artist who does those does really nice work.
