So I am one step closer to sealing my discernment of ordained ministry, and I have a question for you.
Today, out of the blue, our pastor invites me to join her at the altar as a lay assisting minister. I would say that opportunity, as well as other leadership roles I have been charged with in catechism and evangelism, further confirms her confidence in my spiritual development to delve deeper into ecclesial leadership. One of the most defining moments for my faith growth was the first time I partook in the Holy Eucharist as a Lutheran, knowing that I freely received God's unending grace through the precious body and blood as a faithful Christian. And now, I cannot express the joy and gratitude I feel that my ability and desire to serve as a liturgical leader have been recognized and corporaly upheld.
Even though I have been a lector for a while and have given announcements before the congregation, even though I have taught college students and adults in the classroom, I am still very excited to see how the Holy Spirit will work when I approach the altar during worship. What were your experiences like when you made the transition from pew to behind the altar for the first time?

In retrospect, it appears I may have misled to believe that I'm looking for a charismatic response. I'm wondering how many have gone from either complete jitters to immense peace (this is what you've been led to do), or the opposite in turning into mush and stumbling over your words. Just curious if you were calm or anxious, or whatever. Interesting stories you'd like to share - anyone trip over chancel steps?

The first time i ever spoke on a message ( 2 weeks ago, i am not ordained) I was not nervous at all. I got up, delivered a message that i personally didn't feel was too great but everyone loved it :) I always feel so joyful when i deliver my messages.
