  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

First impressions.

I remember how one day many years ago my Stepfather told me how he would get a first impression of the character of people he had just met, wisely keeping this to himself while would see how it would eventually pan out.
This first impression would be justified with few exceptions.
I would in turn learn to do the same by setting these aside to stand the test of time.

Not so with my wife's church, the first time I as a Pentecostal preacher would step into an Adventist Sabbath School would include that all-important first impression.
My impression wold be that of seeing to what point God would have great plans for not only this congregation but the movement as a whole.

I truly enjoy the difference in doctrine and the one-on-one discussions that I will often have with certain members after Sabbath School.
Sadly I can't always be there due to scheduling conflicts, but as I often share, I truly enjoy and look forward to future exchanges with those of my wife's church.
