So, what is meant when someone says they are "Greek Greek"? I struggle fitting in at times as a first generation American who married a non-Greek in my Church parish. I was speaking with another first generation American lady who married a Greek man and she told me her husband is "Greek Greek".

1) In my mind, a "greek greek" is somebody who was born, raised and educated in Greece & migrated as an adult. Immigrants of last few decades tend to be greek greeks, often having gove through higher education, sometimes with good jobs, and they tend to be quite different in mentality compared to the offspring of early 20th century immigrants who escaped poverty, war and famine, to go and work in mines or construction works or the restaurant business. The latter are greek americans, or as I call them "americans who think they are greeks".

2) Don't worry about not fitting in, I don't fit in anywhere at all :p.
