First day of school

Today was my son's first day of kindergarten. While I was waiting for him to come out I saw a little girl run up to her mommy. Right away she said to her mom: "She did not yell at us at all, and no one got sick!"

Hope his first day of Kindergarten went well.

He seems to like school. He said he made a friend already. Although he was upset they took his crayons away from him. So we had to explain that they just put them away and that he will be getting them back when it is time to color

It seemed to go really well. Her teacher phoned and told us that she thinks we made the right decision to go ahead and place her in kindergarten, rather than pre-school, which is what they had been suggesting.

My daughter was mad about that too. I guess they take all their stuff away just to dole it out in communist like bread lines later. I was peeved about it until my wife said she sent cheap stuff.

Well, that's really crummy! They don't get to keep their own school supplies in their own little bin or anything? It's a good time to teach kids about taking care of their own things and having some pride in ownership. Maybe pride in ownership is too American, not pc enough.
