A man after my own heart i too loved SRV. Truly an amazing guitar player. My favourite track was "crossfire"

If we are talking strictly blues it would have to be Freddie King

He inspired every English guitar player of the 60s and 70s and they brought it back to America in the form of rock.

B.B. King, Taj Mahal, and a whole host of others were much greater bluesmen than SRV. SRV was a great blues-rocker, but not a true pure bluesman.

Anybody heard of Captain Beefheart? He was so experimental that I'm not sure whether he qualifies under "blues" or not. I'd definitely say his first album, Safe as Milk, is a blues album, though, and a darn good one IMHO.

I have to say that the Funk Brothers were mighty good. Sonny Terry, Brownie Mcghee, Lightnin' Hopkins...now that's some down-home blues right tharrr. SRV was mighty good though, for what time he was here.
