  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Did any of you hear about this?

A man is recovering in hospital from serious internal injures after launching a firework from his backside.

The 22-year-old suffered a scorched colon and other injuries in the incident in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear.

The prank, involving a Black Cat Thunderbolt Rocket, was captured by a gang of youths and the fuzzy mobile phone footage shows a blinding white flash followed by hysterical laughter.

A spokeswoman for the North East Ambulance Service said: "We received a call stating there was a male who had a firework in his bottom and it was bleeding.

"He was attended to and taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital."

There was also coverage of the story at the BBC site and can be found here.

It beggars belief doesn't it?

I have a sneaking suspicion that the male members of the human race have a greater desire to pull such stupid stunts ... and quite possibly the consumption of alcohol is involved somewhere along the lines ...
(I know I'm stereotyping here. Apologies to all blokes this rather crude decription does not apply to!) ;)

That's hilarious and horrifying at the same time!

Yes it is rather :D

I heard of the story first on the Terry Wogan radio show. The newsreader John Marsh, couldn't read the story out without bursting into hysterics which was soon followed by Terry and everyone else in the studio. I mean, the poor man's backside is in tatters but it is VERY funny at the same time ^_^

I suspect I'd have more sympathy for him if he hadn't chosen to do it himself. It really does stretch the definition to call this an 'accident' ^_^

From one Wogan lover to another...

Okay, it wasn't Wogan though for some reason I thought it was. Hello all TOG's and Wogan fans

It was Ken Bruce and those who can play audio files click here for the now infamous blooper from John Marsh.

How he was able to keep going as long as he did is beyond me, really it is :D ^_^

That's a shame :(

It works for me, I'm using Windows Media Player to play it. At the Radio 2 Ken Bruce hompeage, there's a Listen Again facility. It was on the 9th November show at 11am. It's very short but hilarious :D They only keep the Listen Again shows for 7 days so be quick.

At the Radio 2 Ken Bruce hompeage, there's a Listen Again facility only I don't recall what day it was played, I would imagine after the 5th which would have been Monday so perhaps Tuesday and it would have been on the hour during the news, I know you can fast forward to the part of the Listen Again facility you want. It will be on there somewhere. It's very short but hilarious :D

Cool - I shall go and search it out

Yep, it's the Thursday 9th November show. Go to where it says Listen Again (you'll need RealPlayer) and go 1 hour and 30 minutes (using the 15 mins >> facility) in to the programme because Ken's show begins at 9.30 so that will take you to the 11am news slot. Have fun! :D
