If homo previous walked on hands and toes then contact with the ground probably wore down his fingernails and toes. When Homo erect (?) got off the ground, his toenails were no longer pointed at the ground but forward, as ours are. We trim our toenails using tools. I supposes H. erect origionally could chew off his toenails as I do my fingernails but there came a time when he couldn't. Is it presumed that was when nail files were invented?
