• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have mentioned a few times to certain people on this forum that even tho that person is unable to see through their pain, there can be quite a bit to gain through our OCD.

Elijah2 has made a 2 part posting on The Hidden Treasures of Darkness and Faith. And I was able to relate to it through my OCD struggles.

I found it quite encouraging and if you guys get the time to read it I think you may be able to find it encouraging as well. IF your reading this Elijah2 Thank you

Have a read of those postings at:

Those were great. There goes that theory about people with mental problems or disorders being 'evil' or getting them from "sinning' as some religions believe.

What he says reminds me of Watchman Nee's "The Release Of The Spirit".

I love Watchman Nee's books.

Thanks for digging those out. And thanks from me, too, Elijah2
:)

You know what the greatest temptation is now? After reading those two pages, the thought that came to me was, "If I get totally well, now because I let go of everything that happened to caused the disorders, then I won't be able to come and hang out here... I'll have no reason to."

But that's not true, because as he also said, we can help heal other people's wounds with ours, like the Lord does ours with His.

So, it's all good.

I do not believe it means a person is evil, I know how someone can see that. When I had the blasphemies and intrusive thoughts, I really thought I was evil :(

No problem, I just found them and I thought what he said was the truth. Its just that not everyone is able to see the truth ;) Especially those in great pain and torment.

Well I do believe God will let us endure certain things so we can help heal and edify the church. After all Christ endured much things, why not us ;)

glad to hear you sounding positive :)

Exactly! And we share in the sufferings of Christ and they make us stronger and with each thing He brings us through, our spiritual muscles and faith muscles grow more powerful... and we learn more about His love and His peace being greater than anything. No wonder Paul said he glories in his weakness...
