  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yeah, I think we will. We are impatient. ;)

We had thought about not doing a diagnostic ultrasound, but since we forego the blood tests that tell you the chances of something being wrong, we thought it is probably a good idea. So as long as we're doing it, may as well find out who's in there. :D

I'll be finding out any day now.

You should rephrase the question to are you going to find out in advance . . . . . because finding out the gender of the baby is inevitable.

I chose not to find out in advance because I wanted to wait, I like suprises and it's not the done thing.

Well we know that. I thought that everyone would know what I was meaning. lol

I just have always known I would want to know in advance. Just to be more prepared with the naming & if to by girly stuff or boy things.

Ok.. I really WANT to know what I'm gonna be having but have no idea. I had an ultrasound at 8, 13, 18 and 21 weeks. The last two I was really hoping to find out. The doctors tried to figure it out for me but couldn't because they couldn't really see anything :( The first one (at 18 weeks) said it could possibly be a girl cause he didn't find any penis.. and the second one said it looked like something was there but couldn't really tell so she said maybe a boy. I just want to know so bad!! lol

Just had an ultrasound a week ago at 17 weeks and dr said it's most likely a girl. But we're having another one at 22 weeks and hopefully that will confirm!

As for why I'm finding out: First of all, because I'm waaaaaaaay too curious! Second, we're having the ultrasounds done anyway, and so if the dr knows and we don't there's just too big a chance of him giving it away by accident... don't want that to happen. Third, while I understand the poster who said women have always waited, I reckon some of those women would have given anything for the option to find out!

It makes it that much easier to plan. And we'd like to give the baby a name now - I'd like to start referring to the baby by her name instead of saying "him/her" all the time. Make her part of the family now already!

I'm 27 weeks and as I haven't had an ultrasound we haven't found out. It is of course definitely tempting but even if we did have an ultrasound I think we'lll still probably wait until the birth. We found out with our daughter (not through choice though - it was just obvious from the ultrasound) and it was nice to start refering to her by name before she was born but I also think something was taken away from having the surprise at the birth.
