Filial cannibalism may be present in the animal world, but so is rape and tons of other savage things. Life is brutal. Thankfully we've evolved to the position where we can overcome savagery.

Yes evolution can. Evolutionary learning has produced morality and a concept of justification, and certan moral agents* can view themselves as justified when doing awful things. So they are justified in their own eyes, hence justification is present in some (but perhaps perverse) sense. However it is not a sense of justification I would go along with or promote, just as I would very much like to avoid being crippled by a virus and therefore take steps to avoid and eradicate it.

ETA *moral agants: not necessarily moral in the sense of "I approve of them" but in the sense that they have internal moral discourse with moral concepts (or an inner sense of justification) forming part of their motivational schemata. So beware of equivocating when interpreting what I said.
