I am currently trying to set up our calendar for 2004 (I print our own out with pictures of Ricky for each month and use them for ourselves and gifts for the Grandparents). On ours I would like to include the Feasts.

I would like to have dates for the following... (I have figured some out... but need help with the rest)

Passover / Pesach - April 6, 2004
Unleavened Bread / ? -?
First Fruits / ? - ?
Pentecost / ?- ?
Trumpets / ?- ?
Atonement / ? - ?
Tabernacles/ Sukkot - September 30, 2004 ???

and Hanukkah - December 9, 2004
and maybe Purim - March 7, 2004

I finally found a site with dates for 2003-6 on it.

http://spiritjournals.com/Feasts/feastcalendar2004.htm

But... I don't know how each translates into English.

Also... are there any other than the 7 main feasts that we should list on our calendar?

And a question on Hanukkah.... this year starts on the 20th, which is Saturday... but does it acutally begin at Sundown on Friday? and if so... would the last night to light candles be next Friday, the 26th (and are we supposed to replace the burnt candles each night with new ones, or just let each burn down more each night? Also, what would be the best way for us to celebrate Hanukkah for the first time? Friends of ours are coming to visit on the 26th-28th... I may figure out a nice special Hanukkah dinner to have for them when they get here. Anything else we need to know for this Hanukkah? We already tried out the Dreidal game early... ds loves it :) especially the part where he got to eat a couple of his chocolate coins.

Thanks! and Shalom!

That site is a good one.... starting simple is wisdom ;)

Translations as follows:
Passover / Pesach
Unleavened Bread / Yom HaMotzi
First Fruits / HaBikurrim
Pentecost / Shavuot
Trumpets / Rosh HaShanah
Atonement / Yom Kippur
Tabernacles/ Sukkot

Khanukah, as do all Jewish festivals, starts at sundown - usually of the evening prior to the date given. So Khanukah actually starts at sundown erev Shabbat on the 19th this year - so be sure to light your khanukia candles before you light the sabbath candles which, of course, you light before sundown on the Shabbat. It will end with the setting of the sun on the day that started the evening you lit the 8th candle. (Light the 8th candle, that whole next day is the last day of Khanukah and ends with that next sundown.)

Foods for Khanukah include anything fried in oil, esp. latkes in olive oil, and dairy foods, esp. cheeses.

Fried in oil because of the miracle of the Temple Menorah and dairy/cheeses because of the story of Judith.

There are numerous sites that give volumes on info on Khanukah - do a web search using Chanukah and you will drown in the results!!
Good sites also include:

This study examines the messianic significance of Chanukah

Thank you! :) That helps me out quite a bit :)

--------------------------------------------
How do I label

Unleavened Bread / Yom HaMotzi
and

First Fruits/ HaBikurrim

on the calendar?

---------------------------------------------------------------------

And how do these translate?

SIMCHAT TORAH
TU B'SHEVAT
YOM HASHOAH
YOM HA'ATZMAUT
LAG BAOMER
TISHAH B'AV
PURIM (I know a little about this one, Esther and all, but would like to know more... and how many Messianics observe this)

And if anyone has the time or willingness... what are the significances/purposes of each? and do any have Messianic significance at all?

THANKS!!!
