Feeling like I don't have a purpose

I am pretty much home bound at this point due to severe fatigue and a chronic illness that makes me susceptible to infections because of a faulty immune system. I am mostly lonely and depressed during my day. I feel worthless because I don't have a job and I live with my parents.

What is my purpose? What can I do?

Every person is both a necessary and disposable part in God's plan - none of us are any more valuable than any other, nor any less valuable either. God is using you in whatever you do or do not do.

I don't know exactly what your purpose is, but I know beyond a doubt that you have one, and it's an integral part of Gods plan.
You are here at CF, for a start - there are a lot of people here in need of support, encouragement, or simply someone to talk to im sure the same is true in many other places on line.
You may be housebound, but you have a direct connection to millions of people all over the world

I'm sorry you feel that way. I know I once told my pastor when I was going through a hard time that I felt like a ship without a rudder getting tossed around by every wave. It is hard when you don't feel like you have a purpose.
You still can have a powerful impact on people by praying for people and sharing what you know with people all over the world through the internet.

Possible mini-purposes right now for you:
--to find others who have it worse than you and help them. This is not to make you feel ungrateful, but to help you and the other person. You both need it, even if it takes a little energy on your part.
--to become well again-to learn, explore that and put it into practice. This will usually require other people and maybe even experts, but it is still your purpose.
--to become well again, with not only your faith intact, but stronger than before.
--become even more equipped, through your experiences with suffering, to help others who are suffering in your future--whom you may not have been able to help before.

--and, as always, become more like Jesus and fulfill your unique destiny.

That is very well put. I have had some of these ideas swirling about my head but had not written them down. Thank you.

Furthermore, my grandmother recently died on Friday. She was already in the nursing home and my grandfather already lived alone. I have been planning to take care of him more by visiting and bringing food for him. However, I don't want to give him any respiratory infections I may carry and make him sick. I need to figure that one out.
