• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

When I'm going through times of uncertainty or big life changes (like now) I suffer from bouts of anxiety and have self-harmed from time to time. Feeling the temptations very strongly at the moment and no one where I am knows about it. Would just like to know that anyone else has felt like this and gett a bit of Christian encouragement.

It sounds like you're facing this alone. That must be very difficult for you. I spend some time in the Psalms when struggling. While I haven't self-injured for over a year now, there are still times where the urge arises. I have a coping plan that I use on the really bad days - activities and such that I can do to distract myself from the thoughts that plague me.

I'd encourage you to find scripture that is comforting to you, as well as making a list of activities that are helpful for you in distracting yourself from self-injuring.

My PM box is open if you need a listening ear.

hi, I know what you mean about not letting others find out. My parents would kill me if they knew I still SI. I would suggest reading scriptures that can help against SI, you could probably find some online..also any kind of christian motivational material, I know that Joyce Meyer is good to listen to. If you need to talk please PM me :)
