Feeling Forgotten?

“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”- Luke 12:6-7

Have you ever felt forgotten by God? You might feel neglected, wonder where He is or what He's doing. You might wonder when His purpose and plan for your life is going to unfold.. it seems like you're getting nowhere and going nowhere!

The Bible says not one sparrow is forgotten by God.. not one! Have you noticed how tiny sparrows are?... especially compared to the whole universe?! They are beyond tiny! And yet God has NOT forgotten about them. I'm not telling you this to shame you, but rather to encourage you.. God knows where you are! He knows what you need. He created you! God's awareness of us isn't based on how we feel.. we may feel like He's not there, or that He's distant, or doesn't care about what's happening to us.. God KNOWS ok.. He absolutely knows! He knows how many hairs you have on your head! (See Matthew 10:30).

Ok, how about this. Lastnight, there was a storm going on.. I heard God tell me "Watch this!".. and I just sat on my floor in my room and watched the beautiful lightning. It was gorgeous! And He kept saying "Watch this!" Like, He was reminding me to delight myself in Him, and that there are so many distractions in life.. TV, internet, phone calls, texting, NOISE.. but we rarely take the time out to just spend with our Creator! Just watching what He's created, letting Him teach us and love us and spend time with us.

I so often forget what's important. I put the second coming of Christ in the back of my head (that's what the pastor talked about Sunday) instead of putting it in the front! I get all caught up in what other people think of me, how I should be feeling instead of how I'm really feeling, I get all caught up these distractions.. internet, hobbies, work, what other people might think if I do this or that or say this or that, I just get so caught up in it all! And negative thinking, and wasting the time God has given me (time is a gift!) on stupid things, worldly things,... my point... I'm so weak! God is so strong! I'm so tiny! God is HUGE!

So while I was sitting there lastnight in my room, watching the lightning, God reminded me of my CF name. He created that name and gave it to me to use.. laugh at that all you want! But have you ever prayed about what God wants your screen name to be? Have you ever asked Him? He wants to be involved even in the little details of your life!

So God reminded me of the stars, and Isaiah 40:26:
26 Lift your eyes and look to the heavens:
Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one,
and calls them each by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength,
not one of them is missing.

That verse always strikes me!!! You guys! Do you realize how many stars there are?! Do you realize that God calls them out one by one?! Do you realize how many galaxies there are!? And yet, He knows every single star by name. And you think God has forgotten you?! You think He doesn't care?

Another thing.. I know I've brought this up before but I'm led to bring it up again. When I was at the fair, there was a little girl there no older than 10 showing a cow. She was practicing show a cow, I should say.. well, she was so small! And those cows are so big and powerful. And her cow wasn't cooperating! He got away from her, which spooked another cow, and both of those cows somehow got on both sides of her.. right next to her.. one on her left side and one on her right side, and she went down. I felt my heart break for that little girl! She stood up but you could tell she was hurt. She held her ankle and I watched the tears start to flow. She finally turned the cow over to her dad and hobbled off with her mom, crying. I was fighting back tears for this little girl. I can't imagine what her parents must have felt! To watch their daughter get hurt.. can you imagine how God must feel to see us hurting? DO you think He wants us to be hurt or lonely or in pain? Do you think He doesn't feel any of that?? He loves us with a love that surpasses knowledge! Of course He cares. Of course He loves you and doesn't like to see you hurt. He's your heavenly Father! But He has a purpose for the pain and the trials.

Which brings me to another point. Do you ever find yourself praying prayers that could sound "Lord, please make my way easy." Do you ever pray like that? For the road to be easy? Guess what.. as Christians our road is narrow! Our road isn't easy.. sometimes we have to go through rough times to bring God glory! Why don't we pray prayers like (and notice I said "we").. "Lord, if being without food for a few days brings You glory, so be it!" or "Lord, if giving up what I wanted to bless someone else will bring You glory, so be it!" Why do we pray prayers like "Lord, please bless me with all these comforts of the world!" We are missing the point, aren't we? Is God's glory not more important than a few days without food?! Or something we pridefully wanted? Is His glory not more important than that?!

These are some topics We covered lastnight! Especially after reading the Verse of the Day at Biblegatway.com (see the first verse posted), I knew these things needed to be said for someone else. God does care. God knows exactly where you are, who you are, where you're going, what His plans are for you. He's so trustworthy! Let's choose to trust Him.

Oh wow, nice thread! I really love the message and it is soothing to be reminded that God does care for each and every one of us. Sometimes, I get so impatient for his plans but I have been learning God has a reason for delaying plans. Also, I want to learn to use every opportunity I can to glorify God..it is still a work in progress though.

Absolutely! We are all works in progress.. none of us is without sin. There isn't one of us who doesn't get tempted either.. but Jesus.. even though He was tempted, NEVER gave in to sin! Not once!

I get impatient too.. this Conversation was so timely! I feel like "nothing is happening" in my life and everything is just stagnant.. not getting anywhere. But everyday really does count, every conversation counts, every relationship counts, and every person matters to God! Every 'little' act of love and kindness matters to God! I tend to forget that. Keep persevering!

All good things come from Him! I'm one of many servants..

And I also left out something! That little girl that got hurt by the cows.. she was back the next day for the REAL THING.. showing the cow with a big ol' grin on her face through pretty much the entire showing! AND she won first place.. which put an even bigger smile on her face :)

Keep pressing forward! God knows what's best for us, even when we can't/don't see it.
