  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have currently in high school and have been a Catholic all my life. I went to Catholic school up to 8th grade and always have had a firm belief in God. On Dec 2, My grandfather passed away suddenly. He lived with us and was very healthy and active until his death. He was also a firm believer in God. This was a great loss for my family and I, but I felt that God comforted me. During the wake mass, it felt as if I were "weightless". It is hard to explain, but I could feel the presence of God physically...It was almost a tingling sensation but it felt like He was saying everything was going to be alright. The only other time I felt like this was during my Confirmation retreat in 8th grade. I know that my grandfather is in Heaven, but is this feeling that I have only received twice in my life common? I feel that it was God comforting me, because I cannot find any other explination. It was a feeling that allt he weight was taken off my shoulders, weightlessness, and almost a tingling feeling. I would like to know if anyone else has ever felt this and what they think it is. Thank you. :amen:

I haven't experienced a similar thing, but then, I haven't as yet faced any kind of deaths in my family (which means there is a lot to come).

Only you for certain have any idea of what you felt could have been and if you conclude it was of divine origin, why not? It seems totally feasible to me that you did experience God's presence on you.
