I think this is the right forum...

I know I had a few tunes posted on the forums with my music, but I've since deleted them as best I could. I did this because they were instrumentals.

Genesis 4 tells us that the father of all who play stringed instruments and pipes is Jubal, son of Lamech, son of Methushael, Son of Mehujael, son of Irad, son of Enoch, son of Cain.

Basically, I deleted those posts because I feared I was paying homage to the lineage of Cain by playing musical instruments.

How badly did I screw up by playing musical instruments?

You didn't screw up at all.
David told people to praise God on the harp, lyre, trumpet, cymbals and tambourine - musical instruments. He employed people as temple musicians, 1 Chronicles 9:33.
Solomon made instruments for the musicians out of wood, 1 Kings 10:12.

Why would you think you were paying homage to the line of Cain by playing instruments? And what would that mean, anyway?

David played musical instruments and was a man after God's own heart. There are commandments, especially through out psalms, to sing unto the Lord. To make a joyful noise. Nothing God created (which includes music) can be evil, it's what people do with His creations that can be evil.

Also, there's no indication that Jabal or Jubal were particularly evil; their connection to Cain has no bearing on how we should judge them. (Read Ezekiel 18:19-23) God is not a respecter of persons; our ancestral connection to less flattering people does not undermine our salvation, nor does God love us less for it. We are judged for what we do, not what our fathers have done.

No, you got it wrong, my friend.
In the Bible it reads, whatever you do, do it to the Lord! So when you play or sing you do it for the glory of God right?

1 Corinthians 10:31
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it for the glory of God.

1 Corinthians 10:26 and Psalm 24:1
The Earth is the Lord's, and everything in it.

And I can see from your comment you have fear of the most high, and I am so happy to see it. May the Lord bless you and give discernment ❤️

Agree with this and other comments. You didn't make any error by playing musical instruments. They are used throughout the bible in proclaiming God.

Are you Church of Christ? If so the main reason they do not use musical instruments is because the Bible does not expressly allow it. Ephesians 5:19. In no way does the Bible forbid it. Its a bit funny (in my opinion) that the church split between Disciples of Christ and Church of Christ was largely caused by this issue, especially when they were pretty much accepting of any reformed, or arminian, or lutheran theology. We can talk about full emersion baptism later. The point is, Church of Christ don't believe playing instruments is sinful, but they do not believe its appropriate for worship. I have never heard a Church of Christ person, even the most conservative I know, suggest that playing an instrument is paying homage to Cain.

If you are not Church of Christ, then I don't know what to tell you. That is the only denomination that disallows instruments during worship.

I'm not Church of Christ. I'm just someone fully aware of that he thoroughly screws up anytime he tries to do anything for God.

As for "paying homage to the lineage of Cain," again, the verse reads: "And his brother’s name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ." (Genesis 4:21)

1. In what way do you "screw up"? Are these things that God wants you to do, or things that you think he might want you to do?
2. You are God's beloved child. He loves you big time and is more interested in you than in what you can do for him. If you follow Colossians 3:17 do everything for the Lord and honour him in all things, you won't screw up.

I think you may have over done it.
I post videos of singing scripture songs to guitar accompanyment

But I would have to say I have heard simple instruments playing hymns
which I found edifying. The very tunes brought to mind the faith nourishing words.

For this reason I am not against videos of instrumental versions of spiritual songs and hymns.
If I did it, I would be sure my playing did not distract or "conquer" the main melodic theme of the song.
This takes sensativity of the spirit and conscience, not to overpower the main theme with excessive showing virtuosity.

That the playing brings to mind the words of the faithful can be very helpful.
Did you read about how Elisha prophesied by the Spirit when a minstrel played for him?

But now bring me a musician. And as the musician played, the hand of Jehovah came upon him. (2 Kings 3:15)
