Try giving up what you think and ask what does God think. that is how you seek heaven. Until you do that you are your own idol before God.

You fear punishment. Jesus said fear God who can destroy both body and soul in hell. Some people say no your never to fear God love cast out all fear, that is also from the Bible, but Jesus said to fear. we do not fear punishment any longer but trust in Jesus He has saved us, we love God. what we fear is being that bad son, having God turn His face away from us. We fear doing wrong and disappointing God, having Him turn His face from us. That is how we fear God. When God appeared He always said be not afraid, because humans fear that much power, but God does not want us to fear His power even. He wants us to fear doing wrong and walking off the path from God. This is shown in the first thing God said to Adam, you may eat of all the tree but the tree of Good and evil, if you eat of it you will die that day. God showed Him right away to have fear, and Adam had fear at first, but of death not of having God turn His face from him. So Adam ate when the fear of death was removed, but fear of doing wrong in God's eyes can never be removed because no one can move God any where. What did happen to Adam? God turned His face from Him, they were kicked out of Eden. They had no fear of walking off the path so they walked off the path. WHat keeps you on a lit path through a dark forest at night? The lights? right, fear of going away from that light. Get it. The path remains lit, and the light will come after you if you leave, if you are saved, but for a time you'll be in dark, you must then follow the light back to the path. The light is Jesus and the path is your life through this world that God has laid out.

Have you ever noticed, that all light is brighter at night?

This is because light shines more visible when surrounded by darkness, yet in the light there can be no darkness.

John 1:

[2] (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
[3] That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
[4] And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
[5] This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
[6] If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
[7] But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

God Bless you my friend.

Dear Bluelion. In Matthew 22: 35-40: Jesus tells us: " Love God with all thy hearts, with all thy souls, and with all thy minds. The second is like it: love thy neighbour as thyself." God is Love, and love casts out all fear, love is very catching and love covers a multitude of sins. In 1) Corinthians: 13: 13: Paul tells us: Hope, Faith and Love abide,
these three, but the greatest of these is LOVE. Love is a Christian`s weapon, with love we overcome all anger and wrong behaviour. In Luke 10: 25-28: Jesus is asked: " Master, what must I do to have eternal life?" Jesus answers:
" Matthew 22: 35-40: " Love God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and love thy neighbour as thyself. DO THIS AND YOU SHALL LIVE. If we follow Jesus`s advice we need not fear God, ONLY LOVE GOD."
How can we love God? In Matthew 7: 7-10: we are told " ask and you shall receive," we keep asking God for Love and Joy, then thank God and share all love and joy with our neighbour: all we know and all we meet, friends and not friends. We might stumble and forget at times, but then we ask God to forgive us, and carry on loving and caring.
Remember: " Love casts out all Fear. I say this with love, Bluelion. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

Emmy, there is no conflict between the fear of God and the love of God. The fear of God indicates proper reverence, respect, and submission. The love of God entails perfect obedience. Jesus said, If you love me, you will keep my commandments. Your reference to the fear which is "cast out" is fearfulness related to people, circumstances, afflictions, and Satanic intimidation. That is the fear that should be absent. For example "The fear of man bringeth a snare...". God wants Christians to be strong and courageous, not fearful. The fear of God makes us both wise and strong.

bluelion, Interesting post for me to consider. The only quibble i would make, if it is one, would be asking what God thinks is whatever Scripture says is what he thinks. So give up what you think and seek Scripture for what God says. Agree/disagree?

We are not mindless robots, God wants us to learn and understand His will everyday through every walk. The goal is to know God's word well enough to be able to see God working in the world. In essence we say the same thing The goal is to lay down our will or what we want and to do only God's will. I think we mean the same thing here. What God says is fear of him is the beginning of wisdom, do not fear man who can kill the body but fear God who can destroy both body and soul in hell. The fact I described about this fear is what I see, so you could say they are my own thoughts but then again if you say that you have to throw out all books but the Gospels which are accounts. Just as they were inspired by God, so is the preacher who preaches truth and God is inspired by God. People need the Bible explained to them, this is what Jesus did, Paul said he prayed the reader would imitate him, how much more so should i imitate Jesus?

Dear Job8. God is Love, and fear of God is dealt with through God`s Law: what Man sows, he will also reap.
" Galatians 6: 7-8," tells us:in Matthew 22: 35-40 Jesus tells us :" love thy neighbour as thyself."
(neighbour being all we know and all we meet, friends and not friends) We treat our neighbour as we would love to
be treated.
In Luke 10: 25-28: Jesus is asked: " Master, what must I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus answered: " You know:
to love God with all your heart, with all your soul, an with all your mind, also to love your neighbour as yourself?
DO THIS AND YOU SHALL LIVE. We know that God is Love, and God wants loving sons and daughters, but if we
treat God and our neighbour not as God wants us to treat them, we will suffer the consequences.
In Matthew 7: 7-10, we are told: " ask and you shall receive," we ask God for Love, then thank God and share all
love and joy with our neighbour. God will see our loving efforts and God will bless us. We might stumble and forget at times, but then we ask God to forgive us, and carry on loving and caring. I say this with love, Job. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

In other words, we fail when we seek man's will rather than God's will.
