I have no fear of what comes after death. I may not know exactly what it will look like, but I know that Jesus will be there waiting for me. I am, however, terrified of the death process itself. It's consumed me recently, especially with the horrid state of the world. It's almost an incapacitating fear...the fear of the pain of death.

Anyone share this fear? Have any tips, tricks, suggestions? I pray a lot about it and try to put that fear into God's hands, but it still lingers.

It is pretty difficult to surrender to God's will for us....whatever that may be. But I see it as the only source of peace.

And, I have not quite found it yet.

So I pray, "Into your hands, O Lord, I commend my spirit."

Maybe some day it will be true.

Stop thinking about it.

God gives us the strength, courage, stuborness to face the moment now.
He does not give us strength to face what we imagine will happen in five minutes, hoursm days, years or decades.

Trust God for the ability to face now and trust him to supply your needs when it happens.

Death is inevitable we will all experience death at one point in our lives. I recommend focusing on the present moment and not manifesting events that have not happened yet. When you feel this way continue to pray and place your worries and fears onto him!

The Bible tells us that at the moment of death - the person who has died perceives that they are immediately in the presence of Christ at his appearing in Rev 19. So Christ said "I will come again and receive you to Myself so that WHERE I am THERE you may be also" John 14:1-3. Our hope is fixed completely on the grace to be brought to us at the appearing/revelation of Christ" - 1 Peter 1: 13

So that is what happens at death from the point of view of the one dying.

But your question is about all the stuff that happens before a person actually dies - be it a long slow illness or a sudden tragic end. Some folk in long illness simply die in their sleep.

as you can presume a number of people suffer tragic crisis "ending" long before they reach "old age".

Backovers | KidsandCars.org

In the US - about 50 children are run over by a car each week - where the car backs over them.

In more severe extreme cases - a drunk driver runs over them smashing them head long onto the road without even hitting the brakes at all before it is wayy too late. There you have the full-on horror of a tragic life crisis. This is exactly what happened to me at the age of 3. So you have the pain and tragedy of the event itself - and you also have the pain of living through it if one does not instantly die in such an ordeal. In my case God worked a miracle and after the inconvenience of being in a coma and then paralyzed on one side of body for a period of time - I experience complete and full recovery.

I can tell you first hand that the event barely registers as a problem until after I woke up in the hospital and had to go through some of the recovery experiences.Had I not woken up, had I simply died in that coma - the entire thing would have been much less traumatic - hardly a blip on the radar.

I am having a little trouble understanding your belief that there is anything to fear about death, the times I have come close to death there was not time to think about it, my mind was on what was going on and not on the thought that i was about to die, that did not come until later when I review the incident and someone said or i realized that I came close to buying the farm. I would instead fear illness.

I thought I heard the OP speak of fear of the dying process. That can be years of debility, loss of independence, even loss of mental faculties and chronic suffering. Plenty to fear.

Reminds me of the prayer of St Ignatius of Loyola:

"Take, Lord, receive all my liberty,
my memory, my understanding,
my whole will,
all that I have and all that I possess.
You gave it all to me, Lord;
I give it all back to you.
Do with it as you will,
according to your good pleasure.
Give me your love and your grace;
for with this I have all that I need."

It is a great sentiment but who can really pray it and mean it?

Anyone share this fear? Have any tips, tricks, suggestions? I pray a lot about it and try to put that fear into God's hands, but it still lingers.

In anticipation of the horrible torments of his approaching crucifixion, Jesus "sweat, as it were, great drops of blood." He even prayed that the "cup" of his atonement might pass from him, that he would not have to endure the physical horrors and agony of being beaten to a bloody pulp and then nailed to a cross and ALSO "being made sin for us who knew no sin," separated for a time from fellowship with the Father. So, it's quite natural to feel fear over the prospect of a painful death and to desire to avoid it.

Unlike Christ, however, when we, as God's children, pass into "the valley of the shadow of death," the Good Shepherd is there in the Person of the Spirit of Christ, the Holy Spirit, the only one who can - and will - walk with us through the doorway to eternity, his "rod and staff" comforting and guarding us. (Psalms 23) God's word holds out to us this promise, too:

Romans 8:18
18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

2 Corinthians 4:16-17
16 Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.
17 For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison,

Have you ever endured a medical procedure, surgery perhaps, that caused you some short-term pain in order to gain long-term freedom from greater pain? I have. Death is the final "surgery" that frees us eternally from all further pain, but in the process may cause us some hurt. It was the happy prospect of the end of greater pain that induced me to suffer the lesser, shorter-term pain of surgery and it is the joyful prospect of eternal freedom from suffering that helps carry me through the final "surgery" of death.

More than this, though, death is the doorway to face-to-face communion with my Maker. I'm willing to undergo the rigors of death that I might finally stand in the presence of my Lord and Savior and see him in all of his heavenly glory (see Revelations 1:12-18). He is my "exceeding great reward," drawing me on through the valley of death with hope, and even joy, whatever pain may accompany my journey. When I ponder my death, more and more I find myself focused on Jesus and as this is the case, the pain and suffering death may entail has faded from a rising terror to a "necessary evil," temporary, and not worthy of comparison to the great wonder and delight of forever with my God and King.

Revelation 21:3-7
3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them,
4 and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away."
5 And He who sits on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." And He said, "Write, for these words are faithful and true."
6 Then He said to me, "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost.
7 "He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son.

Beloved one, have you not heard what the Lord said:

“But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭21:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Beloved one, the end is not by a nation shall arise against a nation!

So do not be terrified of the state of the world, for we heard our Lord said not to be terrified of commotion.

Commotion meaning a state of confused and noisy disturbance.

Yes, don’t be terrified of the state of confused and noisy disturbance in the world.

If you are terrified of death or the death process itself, that you said, consider this:

Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭2:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭2:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Beloved one, let us not subject ourselves to bondage or fear of death,

For we don’t receive the spirit of fear again to fear but we receive the Spirit of adoption by whose power we cry out, Abba Father.

For we who partook of Christ, believe that Christ delivers us from fear of death; for we heard that through death Christ might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.

Beloved one, let us trust in God’s deliverance, for we are His children through Christ.

To God the Father be all glory and thanksgiving through Christ. Amen.

If you're healthy, young, not over a certain age I mean then please don't worry about that. We're not put on earth to worry about how we're gonna die. This is way too sad.

Choose to see the bright side of life and all the amazing opportunities you have instead of focusing on that.

Sending hugs, may God reassure you that He has a beautiful plan of your life.

People who are born again or who are forgiven for their sins don't worry about the cause of death. The reason we die violent deaths is because we are sinners and we died as sinners. If you know without a doubt that you are going to heaven then there is no need to fear. My question to you is that, have you seen Jesus Christ in your dreams? Have you spoken to him? If you don't have a personal relationship with him, then how do you know that he will be waiting for you?
May God Bless You
