Favorite Pagan Metal?

My metal phase is just about gone but I still really like some folk metal bands because they incorporate traditional folk instruments and mythological themes.

I've really liked Eluveitie because they're from Switzerland and I'm Swiss and they're just plain fun.

Recently I discovered Arkona. I'd heard of them for a long time but just now decided to check them out. I like them a lot.

So what do you guys think? Any folk/pagan metal bands you like?

I try to avoid pagan metal

I mean the style, not the lyrical theme. There are Christian bands that play music in the pagan/folk metal style. Holy Blood is a good example.

Well up till I have heard a lot about that. But I just want to say that I really like Hromovlad/Slavigrom too much. The other thing that I want to say that Hromovlad and Slavigrom are probably the most interesting Slovakian Pagan metal bands today, and finally they have made a split together.

I like Pagan metal but you have to be careful it doesn't cross over into NSBM, as these bands can be very similar.

In addition to the aforementioned bands, I have to include Turisas, Korpiklaani, and Glittertind. My youngest brother and I can agree on all three of those bands. Just plain fun to listen to!

I used to listen to Therion very frequently. My favorite album was "Gothic Kabbalah", and my favorite song was "The Perennial Sophia".

That song actually has strong Biblical roots.

Probably for the past 12 or so years. I'm 26 now.

I guess roughly half my life wouldn't really be considered a phase, would it? haha

I also love me some stoner doom like Electric Wizard.
