Wasn't Rite of Spring written for ballet? I am a noob, but might have thought that would make it best appreciated at a theatre rather than as pure music. BTW I like the original choreography (ballet nooby though, only seen 4, 2 on youtube).Mine are probably - depending on my mood - either Beethoven's 9th or Stravinky's Sacre du Printemps. Although it's really hard deciding between all the great flavours.
I listened to my first Sibelius last night, 6th symphony IIRC. Was impressed! I thought that is was very inventive and original after becoming accustomed to the more melodius (but sometimes a bit sickly sweet) likes of Bach, Vivaldi and Mozart.I've a preference for Sibelius and Wagner, but I'd have to say my favorite (at the time) would be Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem. Definitely mood music!
I dont want to insinuate anything, but I simply heard that Wagner often appeals to obsessive types. Is that official?
Nah, it works perfectly for just the orchestra!Wasn't Rite of Spring written for ballet? I am a noob, but might have thought that would make it best appreciated at a theatre rather than as pure music. BTW I like the original choreography (ballet nooby though, only seen 4, 2 on youtube).
